Chapter 43 ♛ Another Adventure

Couple days later

Adriana's Pov
I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing, so I lazily get up out of bed and pick up the phone. "Hello?" I say rubbing my eyes, "did I wake you up?" Edmund's voice asks.

"Ugh n- no I was already awake" I say not wanting to make him feel bad, "sure you where" he laughs.

"Okay maybe, why'd you call?" I ask, "okay well you know how I went hiking with Paul yesterday?" He asks.

"Yeah" I say wondering what that had to do with anything, "well I saw an abandoned house— no more like abandoned mansion in the distance" he says.

"Did you look at it with Paul or something?" I ask, "no I didn't mention it to him. I was wondering if you wanted to explore it today with me. If you can." He says.

"Exploring an old abandoned mansion sounds fun" I say, "so yes?" He asks.

"Yes, what time?" I ask, "as soon as possible" he says.

"I'll be ready fifteen minutes tops" I say, "okay see you soon" he says and I hang up and rush back upstairs.

I put my hair in a quick up do so it doesn't get in the way, I put on a pair of worker pants on, and a button up chequered shirt. I decided to dress in clothes that if I get them wrecked it wouldn't matter as much. I put on my lace up brown boots too just in case. I then hear a knock on the door. I open it and there stands Edmund with a huge smile on his face. "Ready?" He asks and I smile and nod and we walk out the door.

Ed and I get in a taxi and it drops us off at a park, but not the one close to my apartment. It's about 20 minutes away actually. We thank the taxi driver and Ed shows me the way. "It's just over here" he says and goes off the walking path.

"Ed there could be like poison ivy or something" he says and he shrugs his shoulders.

I let out a deep breath and follow him. "If I get poison ivy it's your fault" I say and he laughs. I push through branches and bushes following Edmund as fast as I can.

"Are we almost there yet Ed? I-" but I step out and there's a huge red brick building. There's stone steps leading to the door and there's broken windows. It doesn't look like anyone has been here for years!

I look over and see Ed walking up the steps and I run up beside him. "This is so cool" I smile and he nods.

We peek through the broken windows that are covered in spider webs and dirt and look into the dusty old building. There's a huge staircase and old furniture from what I can see. "Let's go" Edmund says and we walk to the door.

The door two doors are huge and look super heavy. Edmund tries to push it but it doesn't budge. "Are you going to help or not?" he asks and I walk over and help push the door, but it still doesn't budge.

"We don't know how long this has been closed. It could be stuck" he says and I try to think but no ideas come to mind. "Maybe we can just get in through the window" I say and he nods.

"Okay I'll go in first then help you in after" Edmund says and I nod. I boost him up and he slips through the window.

"Okay I'm in" he says and pokes his head out the window and I laugh. "Ed you have a little....." I point to my head and he takes the spider web out of his hair.
