“Well, miss Rodriguez, your ankle has actually healed in the wrong spot so we’ll have to re-brake the bone and set it correctly. Unfortunately, this rarely happens and it will be quite a procedure to re-break the bone. You’ll need to go into day surgery and possibly stay in over night, depends on when you get in.” The male nurse came into the room, holding a clipboard that had papers on it. He was flicking through them for a second before looking up at me and smiling sadly.
I heard Lenny groan from were he was sitting beside me, holding my hand for the whole time that we’ve been waiting here and going from the x-ray room to the waiting room and now into an office type room.
“How long will it be before it is fully healed now?” Lenny asked, almost desperate.
“Well, judging by how little the break we will have to make is, about five weeks,” He replied, hoping it’d please Lenny’s desperate face. It obviously didn’t and he groaned again. He sat back in his chair because he’d been resting his forearms on his knees. He put his hands behind his head and rubbed his neck for a while before slumping down with a sigh,
“Are you sure that’s the minimum time that it’s going to heal? Can it go any faster?” Lenny pleaded desperately. His hormones must be driving him wild; no sex for over half a year must be killing him. Especially since I’m so close to him, since he can hold me and kiss me but never go any further.
“I’m sorry, but nothing that is legal will quicken the process. Summer’s body needs to repair itself and nothing can quicken it up besides illegal drugs which are hard to get hold of and I would definitely NOT recommend anything like that.” The doc shook his head and I sighed,
“Is there anything wrong with how it’s healed now? I mean I was walking on it fine for the past couple of days and it didn’t hurt at all.” I asked, almost as desperate to get this chunky piece of plaster off my leg.
“Well nothing is really wrong with it besides its very unstable and weak, just a slight bump or knock and it could break it again. I would highly recommend you do get the re-brake so it can heal properly and be strong. We can get the cast off now and for a couple of days you might be able to get out of having to get the re-brake for a couple of days.” The young male nurse smiled kindly at both of us and wrote something down on the clipboard, “I’ll tell you what, I’ll book you into surgery as soon as possible after two days to give you some time without the big cast over your ankle. But if I can’t get you in after the two days, you’ll have to go earlier. I advise you be extra careful, not too much physical activity; keep it to the minimum. Lots of rest and painkillers when it starts aching, because it will ache quite a bit.”
The nurse recommended a special painkiller and brought me into a room with a special tool to cut through plaster. It took about fifteen minutes to get the cast of and my leg looked horrible. It was quite skinny and a bit whiter than the other one. I grimaced at the hairy leg, ‘I’ll definitely shave that when I get home… AND WASH IT!’ I thought to myself, getting a whiff of the poorly washed leg.
“Ew,” I stated blankly as a waved my hand beneath my nose.
“Ok, Summer and Lenny you are free to go,” The nurse smiled at us and I got up, almost collapsing if Lenny hadn’t caught me and stablised me. I thanked him with a smile and we made our way out to the reception area to pay. We paid the bills and got on our way, first to Samson\'s house to drop off Desiree\'s phone and them back home.
When we got to Samson\'s house, it was nothing that we\'d expected...
