Just seeing him there on the ground among all the bodies was heart stopping. I couldn’t move, couldn’t breath. The only thing that kept me from grabbing the gun that was on one of the dead man’s belt and shot myself was the ragged, slow rise and fall of his chest. Lenny was still alive. I grabbed the gun anyway, hiding behind my back. I untied my legs but couldn’t undo my wrists.

“Lenny?” I whispered even though I knew he was most likely unconscious. My head was still searing in pain but that didn’t matter; all that did was Lenny. I had to get him closer to me, away from the rotting people. It was truly disgusting, seeing these people – innocent or guilty, it didn’t matter – they probably had children, a spouse or a future ahead of them. I didn’t have any idea who they are or where they came from. Some of the bodies looked weeks old, others looked just days. Some had maggots eating their flesh or flies swarming around dried wounds. I gagged and threw up next to me. The disgusting taste of vomit filled my mouth. I kept throwing up my stomach and continued to dry lurch for a while. The smell was unbearable but seeing Lenny’s chest rise and fall kept me strong enough to not pass out.

There looked like there was no door to this confined room but I was proved wrong when I heard the sound of metal grinding on metal and an invisible door opened, revealing one of the guys who worked for Eammon Pearce. I saw him around when I was locked up, weather he was giving me a small plate of food that I got once a week or just hovering around the door when Eammon came to hurt me, just watching me with a sick smirk on his face.

“Summer!” He exclaimed, like seeing an old friend in the park, “Long time no see,” His mouth formed the sick smirk, acting as if this was a casual visit from me. I just glared at him, “What happened to your blind fold? And the gag and the strong rope I tied around your legs?” He asked seriously. I never thought he was that bright but seriously? If I weren’t so terrified shitless I would have rolled my eyes. He just shrugged and kept rambling on, “You’re lucky I’m not as rough as Eammon and that Eammon’s dead. I heard his own son’s killed him. Anyway you are hear because… I actually don’t know. I did have a plan in my mind but forgot.”

How ironic that he had blonde hair…

”Oh! That’s right, now summer I need you to do me a massive favour. You know how your precious Lenny is passed out and unconscious right now so he wont be able to hear us. I need you to marry me.” I looked at him in shock. WTH? “I can explain,” He said.

Yeah you better explain buddy, “I need you to marry me because…” He paused, thinking hard about what he was going to say.

“Does it hurt,” I said simply. He looked like he was trying quite hard; maybe he was mentally challenged (A/N: NO OFFENCE TO PEOPLE WHO ARE).

“What hurt?” He asked, clueless to what I was talking about.

“All the thinking you are doing.” I replied again. This enraged him because he stepped over the bodies that were in his way. He scruffed the front of my shirt and lifted me up, shoving me into the wall, hard.

“WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?” He shouted in my face. Phew someone needs a Tic-tac, I thought randomly. Why aren’t I freaking out?

My mouth just decided to open on it’s own and talk, “Um… Summer Rodriguez the last time I checked.” I shrugged as much as I could with his fists full of my shirt hard against my chest. This angered him even more and he slammed me against the wall again, sending pain shooting up my spine and into the back of my head. I yelled out in pain and almost blacked out. I saw Lenny’s beaten face look up at me from the floor where he’d woken up. The dump dude was yelling in my face and I was looking at him bored-ly. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Lenny struggle silently to stand. He grabbed a gun from one of the other bodies on the floor and pointed it at the yelling man in front of me. He had an angled shot so there was no chance of the bullet going through the man to hit me. I heard the click from him cocking it and the ear splitting, bone chilling bang of the shot plus the man’s body falling to the floor.

Since I was raised from the ground when he was holding me, I fell lightly to the ground and the man fell to his knees before his head fell onto my thighs. I quickly pushed him off and rushed to Lenny’s side, where he’d collapsed right after the gunshot. His breathing was laboured and he was clutching his chest. I looked around frantically before seeing the exit. I quickly put Lenny’s arm over my shoulder hoisted him up, “Come on Lenny, you can do this. I believe in you, I love you,” I encouraged him. I quickly helped him past all the bodies, grabbing a mobile phone from the guy who was harassing me and called triple zero.

“Police, fire or ambulance?” The receiver asked in a slightly reassuring way,

“Ambulance and police,” I quickly told her, struggling with Lenny’s weight of a fully-grown man.

“Okay ma’am can you tell me your position?” She asked.

“I have no idea where I am! Somewhere in Parramatta I think, Can’t you track my call?” I asked barely able to control my voice, becoming strained when Lenny almost collapsed. We were walking through a huge empty house. The walls had massive holes in them and some just had the wooden frames showing. The floor squeaked as I walked and Lenny limped through the old house. I didn’t really know where I was going or if I was going outside

“Yes, we are doing that now. May I ask what is your problem?” She asked politely.

“Well my boyfriend has almost been bashed to death and I have got a really, REALLY sore head. We have been captured by an evil loser.”

We were now exiting the building and got onto the road outside. We sat on the curb, hearing sirens in the background. I just hoped that the guy didn’t have any friends who were still in the building, looking for us.

That’s when the shock sunk in. I suddenly started shaking violently and tears were streaking down my face. That’s when two men burst out the doors of the house.

“There they are,” One of them said pointing at us. I didn’t really care because the sirens were now quite load hence they were close. I felt someone grab me and haul me up to my feet. I was numb and couldn’t feel anything. The guy holding me suddenly froze and I heard him mutter a, “Shit” under his breath. I heard voices of the cops and guns cocking. My eyes were blurry from tears. Someone grabbed the guy holding me and someone grabbed me, most likely a nurse, who led me to one of those stretcher’s in the back of ambulances. I felt something warm run down the back of my neck that felt like it’d been flowing down for a while. I felt weak and tired and that’s when I blacked out.
