Chapter 11 (part 1) - Hospital Rooms

It’s been two days since me and Lenny got rescued. He’s still in hospital from broken bones and a swollen windpipe, which means he has to be on a drip. At the moment I’m sitting in his room, next to him on his bed to be exact. He had his arm around my shoulder and I was using his bicep as a pillow. I was currently picking at his hospital gown while he was watching the footy on the small TV connected to the roof at the end of his bed.

I was watching it to but since Geelong was beating Collingwood by so much I decided that his gown was more interesting. I was a Cat’s supporter all the way and Lenny went for the Saints. I felt Lenny rise a little and tense. I looked at the screen and Geelong had scored another goal,

“Oh yeah,” Lenny said, smiling. I looked at his bruised face and smiled. This beautiful boy was all mine. I reached up and stroked his cheek softly trying not to hurt him at all. He looked down at me and smiled, pecking my lips slightly,

“I love you,” He whispered sweetly, looking me down with love in his eyes.

“I love you too,” I replied reaching up with left hand to hold his. He looked back at the TV and sighed: ads. I hate them so much and so does he. He looked up to the bag with the clear liquid - which is almost finished – that the tube is connected to the IV in the back of his hand.

“How many more months?” He asked and I knew perfectly well how many. While we were escaping, my leg had broken again. I suppose the adrenaline was keeping my mind off the pain until I woke up the next day, which was yesterday. My leg has a massive cast on it again. It’s already covered in sharpie from John. He just went crazy with it and wrote really random things about nothing.

I sighed; this really was my family now. I hardly see Claudia anymore; she’s always with this man or another. The only time I really see her is when she comes out of her bedroom to go out, which is all day then she comes home when everyone’s asleep or not at all.

I heard John snore a little from where he was occupying my hospital bed that I was meant to be sleeping in. I smiled at him and rested my head on Lenny’s chest. I was starting to fall asleep and Lenny slipped his arm around my waist, pulling me slightly closer to him. I hugged him as much as I could around his waist on the bed. My eyelids started to droop and I think I heard Lenny whisper in my ear four words that I wanted to hear but never thought I’d hear them come out of his mouth. It must’ve just been my ears playing tricks on me because there was a very low chance that he actually asked the question,

“Will you marry me?”
