*Claudia’s POV*

It had been over a month since Summer disappeared. Police and detectives have been searching over the whole of Sydney, searching for any sign of Lenny, John or Eammon. They haven’t found anything or any clues at all. They’re thinking that maybe they’ve taken her to another state.

Emmanuel and I have been worried sick. I’ve been the worst, though. At the moment, I’m just laying on my bed, listening to Emmanuel on the phone to someone. It sounds pretty heated through the thick walls in Summer and my apartment. I was trying to block out the sound of Emmanuel shouting into the phone but when he suddenly fell silent, I was suspicious. He started laughing and that’s when I finally lost it.

“What are you laughing about? Our sisters missing and probably being abused and tortured by Eammon,” I spat out his name, “this very minute!” I shouted at him, angry that he could be so happy while I was stuck deep in a depression, not feeling anything but misery and hope, hope for my sister to come back without dying.

“I just got off the phone with Lenny, he said he and John got Summer out of his fathers warehouse and in the hospital in Melbourne.” He smiled and ran to me, scooping me up in the biggest hug and spinning me round. I couldn’t help but smile. The feel weight finally being lifted off my shoulders was overwhelming my body and I felt like I could fly.

“Go pack your bags, hon.” Emmanuel told me and I did immediately.

“How long for?” I asked, walking into my bedroom, grabbing my suitcase, chucking in bras and underwear.

“Um, I reckon just as much as you can fit. She probably won’t be able to get out straight away because if Eammon put her in hospital, she’ll have some pretty serious injuries.” My heart wrenched from the thought of some of the injuries she could have.

Within ten minutes, we hit the road in Emmanuel’s classic Mustang, bags in the back seat. After a couple of minutes of listening to the radio, my phone rang. It was an unknown number so I just answered it, “Hello?”

“Hello? Who is this?” I could’ve recognised Lenny’s Filipino accent in my sleep.

“It’s Claudia, is Summer alright?” I asked, a little desperate to know if my twin sister/best friend was okay.

“Well, she’s in a pretty critical condition but she’ll survive. Are you guys coming down or are we going to have to airlift her to the Sydney hospital?” He asked.

Even though he said she’d survive, I felt sick again from the thought of Summers fragile figure lying in a hospital bed, covered in bruises, cuts and blood. One of the other differences between us is our height. Summer is a couple of centimetres taller than me but usually wears higher heels then me so it’s covered up.

“We just left about ten minutes ago. Lenny, how could you do this to us? How could you betray me and take her away from us?” Tears were threatening to spill over my eyes, making them sting.

There was silence from the other end of the phone. I was waiting for Lenny to reply to my question when Emmanuel pulled into the airport. Obviously, not able to wait the time it takes to drive. We pulled into the car park and chose one closest to the Jet Star terminal. He obviously decided to go with this airline for reasons that didn’t cross my mind. I searched through my bag for my blue tooth. I plugged it into my ear and switched my phone to the blue tooth setting so I didn’t have to hold my phone to my ear.
