Eliza's POV

"Bye Angela!" I shouted as I waved to my friend who was getting back into her moms car.

She waved back vigorously and grinned. "Bye Liza!" she shouted back before her mom drove off. I smiled to my self and went inside, dropping my back pack by the door.

I went into the kitchen and started munching on an apple when a note on the counter caught my eye. I picked it up with my free hand and let my eyes scan over it.

'Eliza, Your father and I have a pack meeting tonight so we won't be home until late. I left 20 bucks on the counter for pizza. Be safe, love you.'

-Mom and Dad

My brows knitted together. This was the 3rd time this week they had a "pack meeting". I just didn't understand why the Alpha had to have my mom there too. Why couldn't they just have the Beta there, and let his wife stay home? Or better yet, why couldn't he let me come with? Oh right because I hadn't shifted yet. Because I'm a misfit. Yay me.

See, all werewolf children were supposed to have their first change on their 10th birthday. Not me. And no one could figure out why. I was a purebred, both of my parents are werewolves, and I come from a Beta bloodline. I'm 14 now. For 4 years, I've been an outcast of my pack, the only pup never to go through an excruciating change. My mom told me that my inner wolf just wasn't ready to connect with me yet, but I knew that wasn't the case.

At first, it didn't bother me, but as I got older, I started to get curious stares from the other kids who had changed. No one ever said anything to me though, they knew my father was Alpha Tom's Beta and I was Alpha Tom's favorite. The Alpha had always been like a second father to me, so the other kids didn't mess me, they knew they would be punished by his hand. But it still didn't stop the sneers I got occasionally behind his back.

I shook my head to banish the thoughts of my "problem". I grabbed my phone from my pocket and called the local pizza joint and ordered a medium cheese pizza. Knowing me, I'd probably devour the whole thing in minutes. Which is exactly what I did.

I was currently sitting on my couch, with a full stomach, groaning. I do this every time, and I always regret it.

I forced my fat ass from the couch and shoved my feet into my running shoes. I know my high metabolism would burn all the calories I just choked down, but taking a run always made me feel a little bit better about myself.

I went out the back door and leapt off the back porch, starting into a run. I may of not been able to shift, but I still had inhuman agility and enhanced senses.

I let the smell of pine, moss, and hours old rain wash through my senses and push away the thoughts of my "disability" and the wonder if I would ever meet my mate. The person would completed my souls may be lost to me because I can't shift.

I shook my head and let the scents around me replace my thoughts so it was only me, and the rain dampened earth beneath me that my shoes were pounding against in a fast paced tempo.

My peace only last a couple minutes before I slammed into something hard. I would fallen back on my ass, but hands gripped my waist and kept me from stumbling backwards. The second those hands touched me, an electric shock of pleasure shot through my body in light tingles. I gasped softly and rubbed my arms to try and get the tingles to go away.

I looked up and found my self staring into sea blue eyes. A shiver went through me and a sudden ache caused my hand to drift up to my head and massage my temple gently.

I sputtered out an apology. "Oh my gosh i am sooo sorry. Geez, I'm s-s-so-" I stopped as the gaze I was locked in with the boy deepened. Something foreign stirred inside me as I breathed in the guys scent. I caught pine, rain, the waxy orange scent of alpha power, male, and a musky scent that seemed to make my headache worse.

What is going on? What the hell is wrong with me? Oh god my mom is going to kill me when she finds out I was out her so late...

A finger to my lips silenced the questions that were swirling in my head. My gazed flickered to the boy's finger before going back to his eyes.

"Stop thinking so loud" he commanded softly. I could only nod.

"What's your name?" his deep smooth voice kept the softness he had before.

"Eliza. Your father's favorite misfit." I responded dryly.

"Jason. You're the one who hasn't shifted yet?" surprisenly, his tone didn't hold the sneer I thought it would, instead, it held a sincere interest.

"Yes"

He smiled proudly it seemed. It lit up his whole face as he gazed down at me. While he "admired" me, I took the time to get a closer look at him.

He looked to be about 16 or 17 and had tousled honey gold hair that matched his blue eyes. He had a hard looking square jaw and smooth kissable lips. My gaze went down. My eyes caught how incredibly toned this guy was. His biceps flexed slightly as his grip on my waist tightened. I swallowed and felt my headache begin to pound harder.

"What's going on?" I demmanded. What this was, was not normal. This wasn't some weird run in with the alphas son in the woods. This was something wolfy.

"Mate." he whispered softly.
