After Jason had kissed me silly, a few of the pack members told Jason that there were some rogues caught in our territory, so Jason had to go take care of it, leaving me to call Angela alone. So I was currently sitting on the bed working up the courage to call her.
Come on, it won't be that bad, it's just Angie, I told myself. But that's the bad part, it's Angie. I took a deep breath and pressed the call button on my phone.
It rang once, before Angela's angry, but relived voice came over the phone. "Eliza! Where have you been these last couple days?! I've been so worried about you!"
I waited a few seconds for her to cool down before I spoke. "He marked me Ange, and it woke up my wolf." I explained softly. I heard her sharp in take of breath.
"That's great Liza, that's so amazing. Have you shifted yet?" she asked, her anger totally gone now.
"Not yet. My wolf told me that once we uh do "it" it'll cause my shift and my heat." I told her. I could almost hear her nodding her head.
"You'll tell me all the juicy details right?"
I giggled. "Yes Ange."
"Good." I heard shouting from the other end and then Angela shouted "coming!"
"Hey Liza, I got to go, my mom needs my help. I'll see you soon okay?" she said.
"Okay, bye Ange." I hung up and sighed in relief. I really was expecting something more dramatic than that. She sounded a bit distracted though, so maybe she was just too busy to freak out too much.
I shrugged and gave into the nagging my wolf had been doing for a while now. I opened Jason's bedroom window and jumped out, landing lightly on my feet. I started walking towards the woods but almost went back. Jason probably wouldn't want me out here alone, and I didn't tell anyone...I wasn't going to be gone long, just long enough to satisfy my wolf. Since I couldn't shift yet, taking walks in the forest helped with the caged feeling my wolf had.
I kept walking and got on the path I had found when I was younger. I inhaled the potent scent of pine and smiled. I missed the forest. I hadn't been out here since I first met Jason.
I look up and the tall evergreens seemed to reach up to the greeting sky above me. They swayed in the light breeze, and passing squirrels caused pine needles to leisurely fall to the moss covered ground next to me. The moss made a squelching noise under my sneakers and leaves made a crunch.
As I walked further, the scuffling of my feet against the rough ground seemed to be the only sound for miles. That is until I heard a twig snap. My heart rate sped up, but only slightly. It could just of been an animal, no big deal. I shrugged it off and walked a few more yards. More twigs snapped and footsteps followed. Fear spiked through me and I turned around, but saw nothing.
Okay Eliza, just keep following the path, it's circling back to the pack house again. It's not far. Just keep going, I kept telling myself. But the snaps got louder, and with the snaps came vicious snarling. I inhaled and blanched at the smell of blood and death. This was a rogue.
Finally, I turned around. The rogue was a smallish brown wolf, one that had matted fur and blood crazed eyes. I started walking backwards, my heart pounding in my chest. Please don't kill me, please don't kill me.
The wolf followed me each step backwards until I had backed my self against a tree. There was no escaping him this time. The wolf began to growl and snarl, snapping its teeth. It stalked towards me and once it was in reach, I kicked it in the face and made a run for it.
I pumped my arms and called on my wolf to help me run. The wolf was gaining on me and I ran faster, ignoring my now burning lungs.
"JASON!" I tried to scream, but I was cut off as the wolf pounced on me. I landed on my stomach with an 'oof' and a crunch.
"Ahh!" I cried out as a felt a few ribs break under the rogues weight. I tried to wiggle out of from under the wolf but he growled, and sunk his teeth into my neck.
I screamed out and tried once again to get the beast off me but it was no use. But somehow, I didn't feel his weight anymore. His heavy form no longer felt as if it was on me. I closed my eyes and kept in another pain filmed cry. Jason will come for me soon, Jason's on his way with Conrad.
'Jason? Conrad? Anybody?!' I cried out into my head. I was greeted with silence.
"Help.." I choked out and surprisenly, I felt myself being lifted up. I was hugged to a hard, cold chest and I wrapped my arms around this persons neck. I opened my eyes to see a blond boy with blood red eyes looking down at me with concern.
"I'm Vincent. I'm gunna take you back to your pack okay? That bastard is dead now. You don't have to worry." he told me soothingly. I could only nod as I felt the life pouring out of my neck. I heard the boy curse before I felt a rush of wind. Then, I blacked out, with the scent of vampire filling my nose.
