~Justin's POV~

As much as I managed to tune out, my name clawed its way into my ears, bringing my audio from blurry to sharp as my name was called out multiple times by a much too familiar voice.

I cocked my head to the side just enough to bring my exasperating manager into view. He gave me a look after noticing the death stare I was sending his way, but he's far used to it by now.

"You're needed in the studio," Scooter nodded his head at me, then dipped it back toward the studio room.

I let out a long sigh, avoiding eye contact with him. "I don't feel like recording."

Though I wasn't looking, I could clearly hear the frustrated sigh he let loose, him not being shy about letting me know how annoyed he is with me. I felt his presence beside me soon enough, realizing he took a seat next to me. He sent me his best supportive gaze, though it only made me want to roll my eyes.

"Look, Justin," he breathed out, cupping the back of his neck as he spoke. "You haven't been yourself lately." I threw my head back with a sigh knowing where this conversation was going. I've only had it with every single other person in my life already. "In fact, you haven't been yourself in a long time. You don't have to tell me why, thats okay. You don't have to admit that to anyone, but it seems to have been this way ever since--"

"--Don't say it," I warned, shooting him a glare.

He sighed, "Ever since Kayla left."

Hearing her name shot bullets through my heart. Hearing it in the same sentence as 'left' added a thousand more bullets. I rubbed at my forehead with my palm, trying to wipe away the memories of her. The less I think of her, the less I hurt, and thats how it needs to be.

He continued, "Justin, if thats whats causing you to act this way you need to get over it. She's just a girl--"

I cut him off once more, "--she's not just any girl," I said through gritted teeth. I hate this. I hate talking about her, fuck, I hate thinking about her. And what makes it worse is people convincing me to forget her because she's 'just' another girl...

Scooter threw his hands up in defense. "What I mean to say is that such a small situation is taking over your mind. You've been acting out, partying every other night, coming to the studio with flasks in your pocket.." He shook his head as he listed off everything I'm doing wrong. "I haven't seen the you I know in a really long time, and neither have your fans. They're worried, believing the rumors-- which, frankly aren't even rumors when they're all true. If you're not gonna do it for yourself," he paused, "do it for them."

The couch shifted back to its even position when he got up, leaving me by myself.

I had to believe part of his lecture; he is right about me needing to be better for my Beliebers. There's millions of them.. millions of supporters sticking by me each and every day, tweeting me reassuring thoughts and believing in me when nobody has the energy to anymore. Millions of people who love me and I still feel so fucking alone.

I bounced my leg up and down to keep myself from crying, but it didn't work like it usually does. I felt a warm tear roll down my cheek and I didn't hesitate to wipe it away. I shut my eyes tight for a moment, wishing all the thoughts of her would just go away.

I never knew emotions could be so painful. I never dreamed that one single person could turn my life from the best thing I've ever known to complete pain. She gave me everything and took it all away so fucking easily.

But I know that I did the same thing to her. Multiple times. Every time. I didn't deserve her; I never did. She always came back, I took her for granted. I played a game with her that nobody could ever win, and I was stupid enough to think that it would never end. She dropped me from her life just like that. And while she's probably better off without me I'm nothing without her. She's my everything and it took me having her out of my life to realize it.

My phone buzzed beside me, and before I even looked to see who it was I already knew.

*1 New Message

From: Brianna

Hey Justyyyy, just wanted to let you know I'm back working at the club tonight and I'll be off at 1am if you want to pick up from where we left off last time ;) Lmk xx

My jaw clenched as I read the message over and over, no doubt in my mind that I was taking her up on her offer. I let my fingers trace over the keyboard as I texted her back probably way too soon.

New Message:

To: Brianna

I'll meet you behind the club at 1

"Justin!"

I rolled my eyes at the sound of Scooter's voice interrupting my thoughts, but gave in to his need of me in the studio. He ushered me into the recording booth, handing me a sheet of lyrics with a title reading 'All For You.'

With furrowed eyebrows, I glanced over the sheet before looking back up at Scooter.

"I didn't write this," I stated flatly.

"No, you didn't. Chuck did," he pointed beside him at an awkward man waving his chubby hand toward me. I rolled my eyes and sent Scooter a look.

"Seriously? This guy?" Chuck looked down in shame, and I kept my eyes trained on Scooter.

"Listen, Justin, if you're not going to take the time to write your own music we're gonna hire people to do it for you. Just because you're not working on your songs doesn't mean you're supposed to. You need to release new music, and this is the only solution," he conversed with a cocky look plastered on his face.

I shook my head as I threw the paper on the floor, bringing out my phone.

"I've got something better than anything Chuck's gonna give you," I scoffed, repeating the words written in my notes into the microphone in front of me.

"No I didn't think you would let me down that easy,

And I didn't think it was over,

Until you walked away,

Like it was nothing baby,

And that moment was so hard for me to breathe,

'Cause you took away the biggest part of me, yeah,

Life is so unpredictable,

Never thought a love like yours could leave me all alone."

I took off the headphones that rested on my head, plopping them back into their position on the mic in front of me. Claps sounding from Scooter overtook my hearing, his smile being so contagious that I almost smiled myself. Almost.

"That was awesome!" he exclaimed, giving me a pat on the shoulder as I exited the booth.

"I'll forward you the lyrics," I mumbled, grabbing my coat. "I gotta go."

The time read 9:46pm, so I figured I could hang around the bar until Brianna was off.

After all, the flask I held in my pocket was empty.
