“Auntie Grace?” I said quietly as I walked into the kitchen. I found her cooking over a hot stove, apron around waist and spoon in hand. She turned and took in my expression. “Honey...what’s the matter?”
I swallowed hard and took a step towards her. My hand outstretched, holding the paper that changed my whole day completely. As Grace took the test, my eyes wanted to wonder to the floor, anywhere but her eyes, knowing complete shock would take place in them. I can’t take much more shock. But I held my ground and stayed strong, my blue eyes locking into her soft brown ones. Grace took one look at the grade and gawked, chocking on her own spit. She shook the test fiercely in her hand, her lips trying to smile but instead were filled with astonishment. “Cool, huh?” I blurted out. Wow, I really do have new confidence.
Grace pulled back shock “Cool? Cool?! You got a 98 on a test and you think this is ‘cool’?! What’s happened? Oh Carson I can’t believe you cheated like that..”
“Um...what?” I asked questionably. Did she just accuse me of cheating?! She knows I never cheat!
“Well you told me you needed a good grade if you wanted that special honorable mention they give out. How could you do this? This isn’t like you one bit! Oh I bet that Benson girl helped you cheat”
“What?! Don’t you talk about Ally that way! I never cheat! I got this grade fairly!” I couldn’t believe it. Yeah ok I thought she would be astounded but I never thought she would accuse me of something that ridiculous! Doesn’t she trust me?!
“And I don’t care about that stupid honorable mention. They give those out to special ed kids! That’s not me!”
“Whether you like it or not, it is you. Carson I can’t believe you would do something that low.” she snapped. I stood there, unable to move. Suddenly I felt dizzy, pain undergoing my whole head. I looked up at her. “Why do you look so angry?” “Go up to your room.” My aunt commanded. “What I do?” I questioned back. I took a look at the paper she was holding. On the right hand corner, was a 98% printed in red. Everything came back to me. Wow, I think my memory is getting better...
But, being the sneak I was, I played dumb. I know I didn’t cheat, and I think I deserve an apology. “Auntie Grace?” Am I missing something here? What did I do?” I made my eyes go wide in wonder and confusion.
“Carson” she said sternly.
Then she remembered. “Oh um honey, actually I would just like for you to go upstairs and try to do some homework. Dinner will be ready soon.”
I nodded and headed up the stairs, a smirk forming on my face as I reached the top. “Grace?” I said quietly. “Yes, dear?” her voice was trembling. “I don’t like being yelled at for no reason...” I dropped the reason to a tiny whisper. “I know hun, I’m sorry”.
I smiled evilly and made my way to my bedroom. I opened my door and look inside. Oops, wrong room. Closing the door and looked around me. Which door? Does this happen every day? My feet started walking towards a certain door on the right, like on command, and I opened it, to reveal my room. I flopped on the bed. It felt like someone was practically taking over my body. I never played stupid for Grace before, and my feet started moving on their own. The playful, evil pranks that my dad used to do were now enveloping me. And my body moves where it pleases, even though I don’t want it to go there. I sat straight up, my eyes shooting daggers at my laptop. My body moved to the desk chair, and my fingers tapped away on the keyboard. I wasn’t even thinking anymore. I was doing. I was...dad?
I looked at the screen, only to see black. I took in my reflection and gasped. My eyes, they were..a dark color I couldn’t make out. I jumped out of my seat and raced to my mirror, seeing the colors of my eyes change. They were chocolate brown. My dad’s eyes were chocolate brown. The skin and formation suddenly started to change too, and all i could see was dad. My eyes were his now, and I could see, what was that? I see a road, and headlights, and a car going way to fast to believe. There’s fur on the road. It’s...Skittles! I gasped as the car went over the bump, swerving to the left, but staying of the right path. A car was parked off the side of the road, and women was inside. Then it was gone. I saw the mirror again. I was me.
Was I happy about that?
*Journal Entry 3*
2 days have passed since the incident with the mirror. Grace never questioned why I looked pale when i came downstairs for dinner. She only felt my forehead and shrugged, knowing I didn’t have a fever and probably just forgot where I was again. After that, I don’t remember. It must have been a sign, since I remember it so well.
* Hiya! Last chapter I sorta forgot to write an author's note..so yeah...
