As I walked came home, Grace was sprawled out on the couch, watching some soap opera I never had interest in. I decided to sneak up on her, thinking it would take things off my mind with Luke. My feet made no sound as I made my way towards the couch. Just as my hand was about to squeeze her sides, tickling her, her eyes shot open and the corners of her mouth twitched up in an evil grin. “Nice try, but next time don’t slam the door so loud people in Mexico can hear” Grace said chuckling. I frowned and tried to take the remote from her, but ended up being too slow and falling over onto of my aunt. She screeched in surprise, causing me too laugh to hard to move. Grace ended having to push me off her, and as I fell to the floor, dinner popped into my mind.
“When are we going to dinner?” I asked suddenly. “I want to order the sundae.”
Grace looked at me sort of weird for a moment, but shook it off quickly. “Will that be your dinner?” She asked with a smug expression.
“Yes” I stated.
“Then pizza night it is.”
“Aw cmon Grace that’s not fair!”
“Nope.” she said laughing.
I huffed and crossed my arms. “Not cool” I mumbled. Then something struck me.
“Guess you won’t get to try their new pie.”
Grace’s head snapped up and her eyes locked into mine like a little kid hearing about the candy store. Besides me (I think..) there’s nothing Grace loves more than pie. Period. At Thanksgiving we even get an extra pie just for little Auntie Grace.
“It’s chocolate peanut butter-”
“Let’s go.” She stated quickly while grabbing the keys swiftly off the counter.
I laughed, jogging to keep up with her excited pace. As we got in the car, I turned the heat on quickly, wishing I grabbed a sweater. We started down the street, going straight until we turned at a stop light. I blasted the music, bopping my head up and down to the beat in rhythm with the stupidest grin on my face. I couldn’t help it-I love the weekends. And I especially loved celebrating them. I heard a chuckle from beside me and decided to have a little fun. I sang the lyrics and danced, wailing my arms everywhere like a fool. Laughing, Grace sang along, and soon we were at the restaurant, but both too worked up to go in. She gasped for air, smiling and banging her hand on the steering wheel. A cheeky grin on my face, I turned to her. “What’s so funny?”
She settled down, then looked at my face and burst out laughing again. This time I was confused. It wasn’t supposed to be THAT funny...just fun.
“The guy on Garden Street, he-he...”
“What?”
“That was my boss! He saw you and should have seen his face!”
“That old creepy boss?”
“No! Jeremy!” She stretched out his name in a teasing manor.
My grin turned into a frown and sat there in horror. Her boss?! He’s like a really young boss, and when I was younger I had the biggest crush on him! And let’s just say Grace knew about it. She would constantly tease me! I can’t help it...he’s handsome, like model material handsome. And he always cracks jokes with me and helps me pull pranks on the other workers...
Ok maybe I still have a teeny crush but hey, who wouldn’t? You would melt if you saw him...
Although Mack has subsided that crush by...a LOT.
And now I’m rambling to myself in my thoughts....great.
“Grace” I finally said.
I could tell she was trying to hold her laughter. That bad?
