The thought of me going to Tyler's house for a date doesn't quite sink in until I'm standing at his front door, staring at the number 93 engraved into the wood.
What happens when this does sink in, you might ask?
I jump up and down and squeal like a giddy school girl, all while trying to be as quiet as possible.
Regaining my composure, I knock on his door, building up my confidence. Which all shrivels away when a smiling Tyler opens it.
"Josh, hey!" His voice is light and airy, and the same feeling flares inside of me from when I heard his voice for the first time outside of my monitor. Before I can even respond, he grabs my hand and pulls me inside.
When I step inside, I'm greeted with the den/kitchen area. Looking at the light grey-blue walls, there are various pictures hung up of him and what seems to be his family. In the middle of the living space, there's a pillow fort around the couch.
"You made this?" I ask, my tone a little more excited than what I expected it to be. Striding over to it, my eyes take in every detail of it. "This is so cute, Ty!" I look back at him, catching a glimpse of his blushed cheeks until he hides his face in his hands.
I slip off my Vans, and slowly bring his fingers away from his flushed face. "Hey, don't cover your face," I speak gently, a light smile finding its way on my lips, "let's go inside your adorable fort!" This achieves a little laugh from Tyler, making my heart trip over itself.
He nods, and we slip into it, and I'm greeted with layers of blankets and pillows cascaded around the space. There's a laptop in the middle of it, having Netflix already open.
I turn to Tyler, who's already getting settled into the fort. "Netflix and chill?" He grins at me, and a laugh erupts out of my throat.
"Very smooth!" I say in between chuckles, getting myself comfortable by propping up a pillow behind my back. Tyler pulls the laptop onto his lap, and I scooch close enough to him until our thighs are touching. It's not that intimate of a touch, there's no passion or urgency in it. It's very innocent, actually. Like when little kids hold hands and run around the playground together. Which is odd, because I still feel electricity flowing through me when my skin makes contact with his, even in the most innocent sense.
After we pick out a movie, which is Ferris Bueller's Day Off, I feel Tyler's fingers lace around mine lazily. As I run my thumb over his knuckle that branches out into his index finger, Tyler lets out a soft yawn (the cutest one I've ever seen, by the way).
"You tired?" I ask nonchalantly, and he just nods weakly in reply. "Take a nap then. I'll tell you how the movie ends." Without a second wasted, he puts his head on my chest, his eyelids fluttering shut. After a few minutes, his breathing steadies out into shallow intakes of oxygen, signifying he's asleep.
My eyes wander off of the screen and onto the sleeping boy. They trace over every curve and dip of his face, every single detail that inhabited his beautiful, beautiful face. "You're absolutely gorgeous, Tyler Joseph." I whisper under my breath. Although he can't hear me, the words seem so right to say. "Don't ever forget that." I sigh, my eyes drooping and feeling myself slip into sleep as well.
