Chapter 11

I couldn’t believe my eyes at this moment. I would recognize that perfectly combed hair, perfectly matched coral outfit, and her signature sun hat everywhere. It definitely was Zara. She looked at me, with her eyes wider than ever, and ran towards me, with her arms wide open. She hugged me tightly when she had reached me, not letting me go for about ten seconds. I smiled widely. It felt as if I hadn’t seen her in ages, when in reality, it had been almost a month since I last saw her in person. If my trip to France was amazing already, I couldn’t even imagine how much more fun it would be with my best friend here.

“Zara!” I squealed happily, as we pulled away from the hug.

“Ianna!” She said just as cheerfully with a huge smile plastered on her face.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were here already? When did you arrive?” I asked frantically.  “Oh my god, it’s so good to see you!”

“I was about to tell you! I arrived a couple of hours ago! I actually got lost; somehow this stupid map won’t help me get to a taco place!” She said with an annoyed tone as she took a messily folded map out of her purse and waved it in an exasperated manner. I giggled at her. If Zara would go to a complete new place in Europe, having all of these touristic places, or important stuff in France, she wouldn’t care. She’d go straight into looking for a taco place. It was so typical of her. Plus she had been always awful at reading maps. “But that doesn’t matter; it’s so good to see you too!”

Then I turned to Nicolas, and introduced him to my best friend and vice versa. I knew Zara had been mesmerized at the sight of Nicholas. I couldn’t blame her, Nicolas was handsome.

“Hey, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Nicolas said fondly. I had talked to Nicolas a lot about Zara. I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew her already just as I did because of what I have told him about her.

“Hi, it’s nice to meet you, too!” Zara said. Just then, I heard a rumble from the sky. I looked up, and noticed the weather had changed in a matter of seconds from a sunny day, to a really cloudy one. I hoped it could rain right now. I just loved the rain. Zara and Nicolas noticed this too.

“It seems like it’s about to rain,” I said, and just as in cue, a few droplets of rain began falling. Some tourists started covering themselves with whatever they had in hand, and began leaving the place.

“I think we should get going,” Nicolas said. Zara and I nodded. The drizzle soon turned into a heavy rainfall, making us scurry out of the park towards the parking lot. We started walking towards were we had parked our car.

“Ah, this was a new dress!” Zara cried as she looked at the newly messed up dress.

Then I remembered it wasn’t a car. It was the bike we had driven, which could be a problem, considering there were three of us, and just one bike. And the rain wouldn’t help this situation either.

“I should take this back to the rentals,” Nic said. “But I don’t think we are all going to fit…”

“Well I came here in a cab, we could ask for one. Not a big problem.” Zara suggested. Nicolas nodded.

“You should take a cab, here, let me call for one.” Nicolas said and dialed a cab. He turned to us and added, “I will take this bike back, and maybe we could meet back in the hotel?”
