Chapter 12
This was it.
This was my first time.
This was totally something new for me.
And I loved it.
No, that was not what I meant, you dirty minded people. This was my first time taking a ride on a Ferris wheel. I had always wanted to go to one of them, but never had the chance. And this would most of the times be the cheesy part from a movie, in which the happy couple stare into each other’s eyes, and start kissing passionately at the top of the Ferris, exchanging the typical ‘I love you’ phrases over and over again.
That was clearly not my case.
“Alright, we are not going to fall! This thing is safe!”
“If we do, this will be your fault! Just saying! Might as well begin my last speech ever before we die,” Nicolas over reacting. “Damn I’m surely going to miss stuff like pizza, drawing, music…”
“Alright, we will fall! Oh, I once heard that there was a family that actually fell from one of this-“ I began taunting him. Of course I was just joking around. I just loved the way he reacted, all frantic and stuff. Plus, it was my time to turn tables, and tease him instead of him teasing me.
“Aw come on! Don’t start with that!” He cried.
I just laughed and ruffled his soft hair. He really did look cute, even though he was freaking out. I cupped a hand on his jaw and made him look at me.
“We. Are. Not. Going. To. Fall.” I said, emphasizing every word, as I looked at his blue, gorgeous eyes. He smiled uneasily and nodded.
“Alright, if you say so… I mean, I really wasn’t scared about the height…”
I raised an eyebrow at him.
“Ah, okay. I am afraid of heights. I just confessed you my biggest freight.” He confessed, as he raised his hands in front of him in surrender. “So what about you, huh?” He asked me. Without hesitating, I answered.
“Cockroaches.”
He just began laughing. Seriously? I didn’t laugh about his freight! That wasn’t fair! I nudged him and crossed my arms over my chest, pretending to be hurt.
“Not fair! You can’t just laugh at my weaknesses and stuff!”
“But seriously, Ianna? I mean… insects? Really?” He asked, making me blush. Maybe it was something stupid, but I didn’t care. I knew those things were just monsters that did not deserve to roam around Earth, preying on us humans. If only there was a button somewhere that made them all vanish from Earth instantly…
“Well, yeah! They’re so freaking scary! Not like… heights. That is actually stupid,” I said in a matter of fact.
I actually liked this moment. I really didn’t know why. I mean, yeah it was my first time on a Ferris wheel, which was amazing. Plus I was with Nicolas, who wouldn’t stop teasing me about my freight. And everything did look beautiful. The sky was painted in a pale blue, with hundreds of clouds everywhere. The sun was bright enough, (which surprised me because Paris was supposedly said to be always raining or something) and then again, the view from the top of the Ferris wheel was amazing. I glanced around everywhere, just to get a mental memory forever, as cheesy as it sounded. The people below us looked like ants, because of how small they looked from here. The fair looked pretty enough, with tons of other mechanical games, or just carnival games that seemed to be so fun. I could see the Eiffel tower from here, surrounded by the seine river. I unzipped my camera case and took out my professional camera. I really did want to make a memory of this day.
