Chapter Two (fear)

At first I thought it was a joke. Until I saw my mom giving my dad a very serious look. But the news lady wasn't done talking yet.

TV: we have a estimate that you have about 25minutes to get to safety.

Then out of no-where the tv shut off. Me my mom and dad all looked at each other then I began to cry.

Hey, sweetie don't cry we'll be okay. We just need you to be strong for us okay. My mom said while on her knees in front of me.

Yea but what are we suppose to do dad? I said to him with concern.

Then mom began to freak out. What do we do? OMG, 25 minutes isn't enough time Joe! The roads are probably already packed with cars.

Marissa! Get as much dry food as you can, canned foods and any liquids that don't need refrigerated! Rem, I need you to get three bags and fill each one with yours, mines and your mom's clothes. Lots of em, get two blankets each. My dad said sternly then he ran to the kitchen and started looking in the cabinets really fast throwing things all over, not because he was mad just because we were in a rush.

I had enough time looking at my parents work, so I ran to my parents room first then mine. I knew I wouldn't be able to take any of my things so I grabbed my diary and some money I've been saving to buy a computer. My dad wouldn't buy it for me because he said it would be a good way to learn how to save money.
I started to think of my friends and if they even knew what was going on. I began to tear up again. Some kids have after school programs, they probably wouldn't even see their parents again. I officially began to sober. I even thought of Jase and if he knew and if so if he was thinking of me. Then my dad entered the room.

Got everything Rem? He said in a low, worried tone

Yea I think so.

Okay let's go, your mom's ready downstairs, at least be strong for her. Or at least try okay?

Okay dad. I said then hugged him.

Joe and Remi it's been 7minutes already let's gooo!! My mom sounded rather angry then scared.

Let's go. Give me our bags, you carry your's and the medical bag.

Okay dad. I said, then switched bags.

7 minutes later...

People had no idea what was going on. When we were driving in town, I saw people still shopping with their kids and couples walking together, and people walking their dogs and elders walking across the street. The town had no idea. They were in the open they were all going to die if someone didn't say something. So I rolled down my window and began to yell:

Everyone listen! There is a nuclear bomb heading to the United States of America in a matter of about 18 minutes! Get to safety! Now before its----

Then my dad rolled my window up and I couldn't roll it back down.

Dad! They need to know, NOW! before its---

Sweety no-one will listen, trust me. See look around, no-one is freaking out. They won't listen. My mom said still looking outside her window.

But I can't live with myself knowing that I could have did something to at least save one life. Mom please! Dad you understand at least right?

My gosh Remi, your just like your father. Always wanting to save lives, you can't save everyone.

I never said I could but there's nothing wrong with trying! I said angrly.

Then there was silence. And I also saw Jase walking. I could at least warn him. I remember him saying his mom left when he was 8 and ever since his dad was a A.A. so everyday after school he walks around town before heading home. He says his dad doesn't want him but keeps him anyways. Jase always talk about how he wants out maybe I can give him that now, he could come with me and my family! It was such the right timing but the only thing is, is that he might want to go back for his dad and that's the other way.

Mom and Dad I'm begging you to stop for two seconds, I know that person that we just passed. Please he's my friend!

Friend or boyfriend Rem? My dad asked. Surprisingly he was serious, maybe because I asked him to stop and that would waste time.

Friend dad I promise!

Joe keep moving it will waist time. My mom said all snobbishly.

Mom he's human what makes you better than any other person in this town?!! I accidentally lost it, it just rushed out. I'm sorry.

It's...ok. She said sounding like she was taking it all in and actually thinking about it. My dad was looking at her in concern.

Then my dad pulled over.

Rem two seconds hurry! Run and get back here and I'm serious! If he refuses come back. Fast, we have 13 minutes left. My dad said it so serious, I didn't even feel safe opening the door, let alone stepping out of it. Of course they were keeping track of time too. Why wouldn't they. And with them, two seconds didn't mean 2 minutes like it usually does, it means 30 seconds. 15 seconds to him and 15 seconds back.

Jase!

Oh, hey Remi, what you doing over here. Are you okay? You look like you've seen---

Jase no time to talk there's a nuclear bomb heading to the states we have 13 minutes before its activated come with me.

Jase looked scared then he looked as if he didn't believe me.

Jase! I'm not lying I'm serious come with me I don't have much time! I pulled on his hand, but he didn't move.

You show up out of nowhere and your telling me to come with you where, paradise? Remi do you know how crazy you sound right now? Jase said while gripping both my hands. Not me gripping his. And of course I began to get annoyed, and I only just started to like him today, what was wrong with me?

Jass---- I said before I was interrupted

*SIRIN ALARMING*

REMI GET BACK HERE NOW!! My dad said.

Jase! Please!

What's going on Rem?

Jase now or I have to leave.. I was seriously panicking now.

What about my father Remi? Hun, I'm just suppose to leave him?

No! But there's no time to get him jase. Now COME ON.

REMI GET BACK HERE! This time my dad was standing outside of the car.

Then I grabbed one of his hands and ran to the car.
