Today I awoke to the ships announcements going off. It was my dad and the captain speaking.

Announcement: morning everyone captain speaking. We have some good and bad news. Listen closely. Bad news. Russia was bombed yesterday at 11:29am. And because Russia is are friends we have declared war along with Russia. The Russians are kind of behind because of this accident. But we are not outnumbered by people. We are outnumbered with weapons and nuclear bombs. Good news we will most likely be safe. The rest of our supplies have to be off of this ship today. And the ship has to go, other wise it will attract enemies. Furniture needs to go as well. The furniture in your rooms are yours, share them, use them in your home's. And the furniture in other rooms, nonbedrooms, will be used for schools, nursing homes etc. Follow the rules. Don't be greedy. We are the chosen ones, the last of them. We will make sure that when we get more information that you will know, now get to work, have an awesome day!.....

Me and Jase looked at each other. Then we got dressed and began to pack our clothes. Took them outside. I asked my mom if she could stay in the area where my house was suppose to be, so that me and Jase could put our things there. When me and Jase were finished, he helped my parents. And I helped others and Cecilia. Work was going well.

Nightfall

Apparently the island was bigger that I've imagined. Someone said they heard a waterfall but couldn't find it. It made me nervous. But I was happy to be living on such a beautiful island. I wasn't sure if it had a name or not. I didn't bother asking.

Few days or weeks later....

My tree house is done being built. So is quite a few other people's homes like my parents and the schools. We haven't started teaching yet. Cecilia didn't want to move in with me she wanted her own place instead. So I helped her plan it out. It came out nice, were neighbors. And Jase moved in with me. He works with the grown men. So building, fishing, cutting wood and all that. Me and Cecilia teach at the same school and wash peoples clothes in our area. This small society of ours is working out quite well if you ask me.
My father came running over to me. He was out of breathe and I was scared. We have a system of bells all around. Every building has one in front of it. They're not super loud, because we don't want to attract anyone here. He told me to ring mine. Once you ring one, all of them ring. One time is for dinner. Two is for announcements. Three times is a death. And Four is that we are under attack. I came up with the number thing because of a book I once read. It was called Red Riding Hood. It wasn't the original it was more modern.
Red Ridings Hoods town had a bell and for each bell struck, it had a different meaning. Similar to ours. He told me to ring it twice. I was glad I didn't have to do it any more. Once I hit it twice people started coming to shore, so that everyone could hear. Sometimes people wouldn't show either because they were busy, but we all are. Or because they just didn't want to, or they were injured or sick.

I... I -- only have... one thing. He said out of breathe. We are losing the war... And it's very serious--- and violent. People are being burned alive... And there's more--- if you want to know more follow me. Others go back to what you were doing... Then he began to walk away. Only a small few followed, along with Jase.

My mother came up to me and hugged me. She asked if I was alright. I asked if she was, and she began to cry. We left her mom and sister back home. She was having a tough time. I had no emotion. I felt bad about it. I couldn't express myself anymore. What was wrong with me? Sometimes you could hear bombs or airplanes of some sort. I don't know how or why.
Every night Jase would hold me tight. He barely spoke, anymore. Maybe because of what he was hearing about home. It was destroying us. This island wasn't as much fun anymore. It was dead of fear. I wanted to do something about it. But I knew that everyone was grieving the ones they left behind and feeling the guilt of it. I never felt this lonely in my life. I began to think of how it would be if I were back home. Then I decided not to.

Remi! Wake up. Look! Jase said.

What?!. I asked sort of annoyed.

Look. I've made a friend... He was petting something. But I couldn't see it from the angle I was at.

*Gasp. A monkey! I was awed.

It's actually called a mustache monkey. But yea. He's friendly, he wanted to meet you. Jase said smiling.

What's his name? I asked while petting him.

I don't know. I'm not good with naming I thought maybe you could name him. He said.

But you found him. I said

No. Actually he found me. He jumped right on top of my shoulder. Scared the crap out of me. But he wouldn't leave. He just followed me. He explained

Haha, he just wants a home. How cute. I said

So what's his name? Jase asked.

Hmm. Let's name him Chase. I said.

I think Jase thought I was trying to rhyme to his name but I wasn't. I wanted to name him Chase, because he chased Jase. Haha it made me laugh. And I explained that to Jase. And he loved it. Later on I picked some fruit for Chase. And gave him a bath in the cool water. I even made him a collar. Out of a belt and some vine. It wasn't too tight, but tight enough to not fall off. But I made it for him so that if he ever left I would know it was him if he ever returned.
Jase and I played with Chase all night. He brought us joy. It felt like he was our child and me and Jase were happy married parents. I didnt say it out loud because I didn't want to freak Jase out. As if I wanted kids or something. Chase was our responsibility, so technically he was our child I guess. At least that's how I put it.
I heard screaming the following day. It was mid-night. It was some men and women yelling. Jase got up and told me to get Chase and to be quite. I did as told. Jase then looked back at me and then the bells rung. One time, then two, then three. I prayed it didn't do it again. But it was too late. The fourth bell rung. And I fell to my knees.
