Fifth Generation

Strange things.

Normani's POV

Eventually after the seemingly endless argument a while ago, They all left and I begged to stay. I dragged a stool near Dinah's bed and rested my chin in my hands, my arms on the edge of her bed. She still ain't waking up but she's fine. I'm starting to think she's just sleeping now. Like her kind of sleep. She's hard to wake up, you know.

I sighed. I didn't know why I snapped at Emily and accused her of such non-sense blames. Now that I think about it, it is really stupid of me. I groaned and made mental note to apologize to her later. My anger seemed untamed these days. I groaned once more  and buried my face in my arms. Why do my life have to be complicated now?

I heard a crash behind me and I jumped from my seat, startled. I swear my eyes got to be as wide as the globe and my heart is beating fast. There, I saw a chair on the floor and Garnet behind it. My heart skipped a beat but I ignored it. I stood up and pointed at him.

"What the heck are you doing here snooping around?!" I felt my anger bubble up inside me again and I fumed.

Garnet immediately stood up  and raised his arms in surrender. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I was here ever since and I'm surprised you didn't notice me. I didn't left anyway, and you were there, having your moment so I didn't want to interrupt but as you can see.." He trailed off.

"You could have left you know"

"Yeah I know but I actually wanna talk to you." He said, his emotions changing from nervousness to determination. It was quite a funny sight to see but I didn't dare laugh. I crossed my arms and waited for him to speak.He seemed to be debating with himself but then he suddenly walked towards me until he was just a few steps away from me. I tapped my foot.

"I was wondering about..about us." He hesitated. 

I raised my eyebrow."Us? There's no 'us'" 

Something flashed in his eyes but it disappeared. " I don't mean it that way. I mean, Let's face it Normani. We are mates whether you like it or not. I know you can feel it too Normani, there's no way you can't."

I stayed silent. The fact is, I know what he is talking about. I know he is right but I'm too stubborn to admit it. I pursed my lips.

Garnet took a few steps closer to me and looked into my eyes. My brown pair of eyes staring intently at his blue sparkling eyes. His auburn hair hanging loosely above his eyes. I tried to look away but I found myself unable to. This feeling..

"Let me prove myself to you Normani. Just let me and I'll let you decide." With one last look, he turned away and went out of the infirmary. 

To say that I was shocked and perplexed was an understatement. Once again, I felt my eyes widened and my jaw dropping. 

"That was totally sweet." I heard someone say. I spun around so fast my head felt like it would crack in two. I groaned and clutched it before looking at the source of the voice. There, in her bed was Dinah, fully awake.

I ran to her and slapped her in the arm. "ouch. easy Normani, I just recovered!"

I glared at her. "You were listening!"

"I have ears you know." She reasoned out. I glared at her, Garnet's words still ringing in my mind.  I huffed and stomped out of the room.

Dinah was laughing and I huffed more. I can feel my nerves throbbing in anger and annoyance.

"Hey Normani , wait up!" She said, still laughing.

Ally's POV

Lauren, Camila and I arrived at the house where we are supposed to stay and heard commotion upstairs. There, we found a worried Drei and Mikaela, who's currently pale as a snow. I furrowed my eyebrows while Lauren and Camila squealed in delight and ran for the puppy that was in the room.

"What happened?" I approached Drei and Mikaela. Mikaela was in a daze, and her fist was clenched.

"I'll explain later. I'll gather everybody else downstairs so tell the other two to do the same. You as well. " Drei said formally before clutching Mikaela's arm and dragging her downstairs. I wonder what happened. 

I went inside the room to inform the two when I found Lauren and Camila sitting in the bed cooing over the puppy.The puppy's coat was black and it matches his black eyes. The puppy looked at me and I stared back. It felt like an hour but it looked away and continued doing whatever it was doing.

I shook my head and ignored what happened. Instead I went closer to the two and informed them about the gathering downstairs. Lauren cradled the puppy and we all went downstairs.

All of them are already there, Including Conan, Rye and the old man. Dinah was there too, I'm guessing she already recovered. I can sense a trace of laughter in her face and I remind myself to ask her what happened.

"What happened this time?" The old man said, sounding amused. As Drei told us what happened, I saw Mikaela. She was still in a daze. Her eyes were cloudy. I had the urge to go to her and that's what i did.

I snapped my fingers in front of her face and slowly, the cloudy look in her eyes slowly diminished. I barely noticed the others stopped talking and watched what I'm doing. Mikaela suddenly jerked upwards, gasping for air. Her fist was clenched tight.  Drei was holding her tight and I see a bunch of worried glance thrown her way. Slowly, her color came running back and her breath started to calm down. She opened her eyes and Drei immediately tended her. 

I stared, unable to overcome my shock. I saw Sapphire raised her eyebrow.

"What happened now?" She pointed towards Mikaela but she's looking at me. I know I'm older than her but the way she carries the air around her frightens me. 

"I..I honestly don't know. I had this urge to snap her out of whatever trance she was in and then that happened." I explained, my hands trembling.

On the other hand, I was startled as Mikaela spoke. " I..I" She closed her eyes and took a big gulp of air." I was in a trance that often happens to my kind when we smell blood. We have different reactions for different types of blood. I don't know how Ally did it but I'm glad she did what she did because I would be in that trance forever if she snap me out of it."

"Since when was the last time you drink blood?" Sapphire ask, her eyebrows furrowed.

Mikaela visibly gulped. "Since, I helped you escape."

I saw Drei frowned. I sensed concern in the air. And worry.

The possible consequence of whatever happened bestowed upon us. I saw Lauren still cuddling the puppy. The puppy was looking into my eyes. Directly into my eyes. 

'Emily..'  I heard a voice said. Where did it came from? I looked at the puppy and it is still looking at me and the voice came back again. Don't tell me, it's the puppy.

But I got no time to know that as I look around. 

"Guys, where's emily?"
