(Hey guys! Thanks for starting to read my story! Please comment and vote. I cannot stress how important your feedback is! Anyway, please enjoy :)

I remembered my grandmother very well. She was a seer, a divination expert. She had always told me things she saw and had tried to train me to be one, but realized I didn't possess the gift.

"Shayla, having the gift of the Sight is not a talent most people have and you are an extraordinary girl anyhow," my grandmother said, hugging me. I was seven at the time and my grandmother definitely spoiled me. I was her favorite, even if I didn't possess her gift. No one in the family did except for her. She was also the only Ravenclaw in the Diggory family. Everyone else had been Hufflepuffs, Gryffindors, and Slytherins at Hogwarts.

But the most vivid memory I had of my grandmother was when she became very sick. My grandfather had died when I was very little. But, at this time I was nine. She stayed in bed all day and she refused to eat and drink. My mum had hired a nurse to watch over her while she and my dad went to work at St. Mungo's. Cedric was at Hogwarts. When they returned home, we used the Floo network to get to Grandma's house. I saw my grandmother lying in her bed and walked over to her slowly.

Her eyes were bloodshot and weathered and her skin had become very wrinkly. Her white hair was long and withering. I walked up to her bedside. "Grandma, are you alright?" I asked.

"Shayla," she said in a scratchy voice. "I want you to know that I love you very much and that I never want you to forget it." She raised a shaky hand and placed it on my shoulder. With the other, she signaled my parents to leave. They did as told. Then, my grandma's hand went to her neck, where she pulled out a golden necklace-like object with an hourglass in it.

"Do you know what this is?" she asked me.

"No grandma," I had said back.

"This is a time-turner," she said. Her voice sounded weak and frail. "It takes you back in time when you need it most. I want you to have it." She placed it in my hand. "You must promise to use this only in times of great need Shayla."

"I couldn't though Grandma this is yours and you might need it," I said. I was used to her spoiling me, but I didn't want to take something as special as that.

"Shayla, I won't be here for that much longer," she said weakly. Her eyes were droopy and her face colorless.

"Are you going to go on a vacation or something?" I asked. I didn't understand what was going on.

"I mean I won't be on earth much longer," she said with sadness in her voice. "But you must promise."

"What do you mean?" I asked upsetly. Was she going to... No she couldn't be.

"Shayla, I love you," she said quietly. She closed her eyes and her rattled breathing stopped.

"Grandma?" I asked. "Grandma!" I started balling. No, she couldn't be gone. She was just here. I looked at her. No movement. Tears streamed down my face. The woman who meant so much to me was now lying dead.

"Mum!" I yelled out while sobbing. My mother and father rushed into the room and both gasped. My dad started breaking down in tears like I was. He was her son. "Mum she's gone. She was just here and now she's...and now she's..." I couldn't finish; the sobs drowned my words. I sat there crying for what felt like hours. I saw a glint of gold in my hand and stopped crying enough to look at it. On the side was a message, but I didn't want to read it now.

I thought about the woman she was. So kind and knowledgable. Always did what was right. And I remembered how she requested me to promise her to use the time turner only in times of great need. My parents signaled it was time to leave, with red eyes and tissues in their hands. I hovered over my grandmother's sullen body. "I promise."
