Chapter 16

"Ya that sounds great," I said to Draco. "Where do you want to go?"

"I was thinking about going back to the common room and playing wizard chess or exploding snap," he said. "That sound okay to you?"

"Ya," I said with a smile.

As we walked up towards the castle, Draco stopped and I did too; just to see why he did so. "You know I really am sorry that I've been a jerk to you," he said. "There's just a lot of pressure on me to be cool with the quidditch team, you know? And people have just started accepting me. But, you cant tell anyone."

"Ya I get it," I said. "And I won't tell anyone."

"I know you're not a mean person," he blurted out. "I know you didn't want to do those things to Granger and Creevey no matter how bloody hilarious they were." He gave a little laugh but then caught himself.

"How did you know?" I asked.

"You are terrible at concealing emotions," he said.

"Oh," I said, embarrassed. Wow, he was good.

"Ya," he said. "You probably think I hate you."

"Well actually, Draco, I was confused at how you were nice at one moment and mean the next," I said. I felt I needed to just tell him what I really felt.

"Like I said, I'm sorry, but like everyone I have a dark side," he said deviously. "The question is, are you willing to accept it?"

Wow, that question was very well played. So well played, I didn't know what to answer. If I know knew he was going to be a jerk, I didn't want to accept it. But, those gray eyes...

"I'll try to be a lot nicer to you," he said. "But I can't make any promises about Scarhead and his Mudblood friend." There was his mean side, but as long as it wasn't me being mean I guess it was okay. You can't change a person.

"Okay I accept it," I said.

"Thank G- I mean okay," he said quickly.

I laughed and he laughed too. We reached the entrance to the castle and began walking towards the Slytherin common room when I remembered I had promised Ginny I'd come to her common room to work on our potions project. "Draco," I said. "I'm so sorry, I forgot I have to work on a potions project tonight with a partner so I can't go to the common room with you."

"Oh," he said with a hint of sadness. "Alright then."

"Bye Draco," I said.

"See ya," he said. He waved as we parted ways. Now, I had to find the Gyffindor common room. I looked around to see if any of my friends were there and I saw a familiar blonde skipping down the corridor.

"Hey Luna," I called out to her.

"Oh hello Shayla," she said in her high, sweet voice. "Where are you off to? I was just on my way to find my shoes." I looked down to her feet. She was barefooted. Strange, but I had to focus on finding the common room.

"Well actually, I was wondering if you could help me," I said. She nodded her head.

"Of course, what do you need?" she asked politely.

"Do you happen to know where the Gryffindor common room is?" I said.

"Yes. How about I walk with you there?" she suggested.

"That sounds good," I said. Thank goodness someone knew where it was. But, Luna was in Ravenclaw. How did she kn- Well then again, she's Luna. We walked up two flights of stairs. Luckily they hadn't moved while we were on them. We started walking down a hallway.
