Chapter 7

The next day, I felt a whole lot better. My head felt almost normal, so Madam Pomfrey let me go back to my dorm in the morning. I walked all the way down to the Slytherin common room and said, “Pureblood,” when I got to the door. It opened and I saw Draco standing there with a bad bruise on his forehead.

“What happened to your head?” I asked.

“Go away Diggory,” he responded.

“What’s wrong with you?” I asked, but then I remembered the lie Cedric told him. It was going to take a while for Draco to trust me again.

“I told you to go away you bloody idiot!” Draco yelled. I realized it wasn’t worth it to keep arguing and I walked away. I saw him fistbump the two little sidekicks he always had with him and snicker.

I ran up the stairs to my dorm to Amanda laying on her bed. “Where have you been?” she asked.

“Long story short, I was in the hospital wing for a day and a half,” I said.

“Okay well we had better get going to the Great Hall,” she said.

"You go ahead," I said. "I'm gonna shower and change my clothes."

"Okay," she said. She left the room, her long wavy hair swaying.

...

I returned to the common room after a long and hard day. I did extra work for the classes I’d missed and Snape’s report was due today so I lost twenty house points even though I was in the hospital. I was just done with today. When I entered the green and silvery room, I found the nearest table and sat down in a chair. I pulled out my ink and quill and started working on my homework when Amanda came over to my table.

“Hey,”she said.

“Hi,” I replied.

“You need help?” she asked.

“I don’t think so,” I said gloomily.

“Are you okay?” she asked.

“No,” I said.

“Care to enlighten me?”

“Its a long story, let’s just say I lost a good friend of mine.”

“Oh well if you need anything I’ll help you,” she said. I smiled at this.

“Thanks,” I said. “I really appreciate you.”

“It’s all good,” she said.

“Want to go get some Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans?” I asked.

“Actually, I have some in my trunk,” she replied. “We can eat those.”

“Okay,” I said excitedly. Amanda walked up the stairs to our dorm and returned in three minutes with a huge bag of beans.

“Wow, that’s a lot!” I exclaimed.

“Ya my dad works at Honeydukes,” she said. “We get some benefits.”

“I can see that!” I said. She opened the bag and grabbed a couple and handed the bag to me. I did the same. As we were eating the beans, I got the greatest idea.

“We should pick a bean with our eyes closed and guess what kind it is!” I said enthusiastically.

“Even the bad ones?” she asked with a quizzical look on her face.

“Even the bad ones,” I said with an evil grin.

“Okay,” she said, laughing. “You first.” I reached my hand into the bag with my eyes sealed shut. I showed the bean to Amanda so she would know which one it was and I raised my hand to my mouth, popping the bean in. A soft and gooey texture came with a sweet and powdery taste.
