Chapter 19
"Wake up!"
I heard muffled yelling as I turned to face the sound of the noise. I slowly opened my heavy eyelids. I saw Ally standing beside my bed. She yelled again, "Wake up Shayla!"
"Alright alright I'm up," I mumbled. I struggled to sit upright.
"It's almost time for our first class!" she shouted. Panic surged through me. Snape would have my head! And l kind of owed him for that insight yesterday. I climbed out of bed, rushed over to my dresser, and started throwing on my robes, not caring that Amanda was standing there giving me a dirty look. After I had prepared myself, I grabbed my schoolbag and supplies and started to rush out the door and to Snape's room with Ally on my heels. I had dressed so fast that we had 7 minutes to spare. Perfect.
Halfway to the classroom, it hit me that I had missed quidditch practice today. Flint would be so furious. We were scheduled for a game tonight against Gryffindor and he was planning some tricky plays we could use against them. He had been droning on for the past weeks about how Slytherin had to win this year. And we COULD NOT lose to Gryffindor or Flint would die of shame. So the other players and I had been working our butts off.
I sat down in my normal spot next to Amanda. We only talked when we needed to. She almost seemed as if she was shunning me, but I had learned not to care.
"Take out your textbooks and open to page one hundred and two," Snape bellowed. There was a shuffling of papers and the hard sound of the leather covers hitting the desk as everyone did as Snape said.
"Today we will be studying how to make the Cure for Boils," he said without feeling. "You will write an essay three pieces of parchment in length and you will have it turned in by tomorrow. Begin"
This was so unfair I couldn't stand it. I only had one night to finish this! And there was a game tonight! With any other teacher, I would've argued. But this? This was Snape.
...
The time of the game rolled around soon. This was the first game of the season so I was super nervous. My hands were sweaty and my heart was beating a mile a minute as I changed into my green quidditch robes. With my fingers, I traced the embroidered Diggory on the back before throwing it on, as well as my shoes. Ced had promised to come and watch the game along with Cho. They were inseperable now. But, still cute.
I grabbed my broom and I walked down the stairs, where the pre-game party was taking place. I realized I was the first team member down. There were green and silver streamers everywhere and blasting music. Everyone was jumping around and dancing. Multiple people held up signs with our name and numbers on them. I looked around and saw several with Diggory 26. I got a sudden self-esteem boost even though the butterflies in my stomach hadn't gone away. And I knew they wouldn't. They never did.
I worked my way through the crowd, to the boys dormitory stairs to wait for the rest of the team. I was the only girl, besides Amanda. I looked up and saw them walking down, Draco in the lead. He smiled at me. But it was a genuine one. A rare occurrence.
When they all reached the bottom, everyone started cheering. The room was pouring with energy and enthusiasm. I walked over to Draco.
"We have got to win," I said.
"Yes," he said. "Let's smack the grins off those Gryffindors." Even though I had friends on Gryffindor, this was quidditch. They were going down. Flint motioned for all of us to get together and I saw Amanda join the group.
