Andrew stood in front of Tracy’s door, which he was glad that Sarah didn’t see. Behind it had blood splatters, which dripped down along the white door. It was the only spot in the apartment that had blood. Not the carpet nor the door frame. He reached with a gloved hand and poked it, getting blood on his finger and then moved to sniff it.
“Any idea what did this?” He heard, looking back at a large blonde male that was walking up to him. His name was Jonathon Sales. His hair was slightly long and had blue eyes. He was all muscle, and appeared to be intimidating at first, but the warm look on his face only read that he was nothing but a gentle giant
Andrew shook his head, looking at the blood. “No clue.” He turned to face him. “The friend of the victim says that only one other person has been invited in. We’re currently looking up who that was.”
“No one else? Just him?”
Andrew‘s face grew sullen . “The friend’s little boy toy isn’t exactly human either.”
Jon’s eyes darted back to him. “What is he?”
“Not sure, yet. He smelled different, yet he seemed to have no problem with figuring out what I am.” Andrew took his glove off and walked with him into the living room. “The girls moved here a few days ago, and so far from what the girl said, they’ve only met two guys. The mover and pretty boy. We’re not sure exactly about the girl’s history. I e-mailed Shawn and he’s looking the two up, while Catrina is looking the guy’s up.”
“Do you think the girl knows about the guy’s blood type?”
Andrew shook his head. “Doubt it. She seemed oblivious about it all. Shaken up too, which is why I let her go. I’ll question her some more tomorrow.”
Jon’s phone began to ring, he reached into his pocket and answered it, “Hello?” He looked at Andrew while listening, mouthing Nick. He narrowed his eyes as he continued to listen, and slowly nodded. “Alright, we’ll be there in a minute.” He said before hanging up. “They found a body over on Saint Clair.”
“Female?” Andrew hurried to follow him out of the apartment.
“No, male. Late teens.”
The two pulled up to a parking lot which was blocked off to the public with police tape. They slipped under it and went over to the scene. Andrew could smell the blood as they grew closer, and not too long they stepped up and saw a young boy laying on the ground. blood around his neck, which also seemed to be shattered. Jon kneeled down, gently moving the boy’s hood from his face. The boy had red hair and blue eyes, and appeared to have been about seventeen years old.
“Hey.” He heard, looking up and saw their boss, Nick Bates walking up.
“Were there any witnesses?”
Nick shook his head. “No, but we are gathering up surveillances.” The man was about in his forties with sandy blonde hair with blue eyes. He wore a long dark gray trench coat with dress clothes under. “We did find an I.D on him, though. His name is Glen Allison. Seventeen years old, and as far as we can see on in the system, high school drop out with a criminal record that would make older men blush.”
Jon stood took a closer look at him, tilting his head to the side and moved the boy’s clothes away from his neck and saw bite marks. “Vampire attack?”
“It appears so.”
Andrew looked up at him. “Have you spoken to his family, yet?”
“We can’t seem to get a hold of anyone. He doesn’t seem to have any sort of connection with his family and the feelings seem to be mutual.” Jon felt the boy’s pockets, but they were empty. Nick spoke up. “We found methamphetamine on him. The kid is taking the hard stuff, for sure.”
Jon stood, shaking his head. “That’s a shame.”
Andrew eyed the boy, “Are we sure he’s dead?” He looked back at Nick. “For good?”
Nick took a pack of cigarettes out, taking one and tucking it between his lips before lighting it. “It’s hard to say at this point. We’re taking him back to headquarters to make sure.” He exhaled the smoke.
BPRD.
Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense.
Also known as if you’re out to disturb the peace and you were not human, you were going to get your ass kicked. The organization was part of the government agency and was started during the rise of Hitler when he began to use different supernatural beings to fight against his enemies and torture his victims in the Nazi concentration camps. It was hard times, for humans and supernatural beings.
The organization needed strong people on the field, which is why it was filled with supernatural persons and held a few humans as well. It had many headquarters around the world, doing everything they can to protect humans the best they can while also hiding the truth from them about the secret world that bumped around in the night.
Nick Bates was the head of America’s Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense. A veteran who has dedicated the rest of his life to kick the asses who even tried to harm his American people that he had fought hard protect during his years in service. He was human, but he was one tough human.
Andrew watched as men put the boy’s body on a stretcher, zipping up the body bag and putting him in the back of a black van, which all was hidden by an ambulance so curious humans didn’t see what was going on. Nick spoke to the men, “Make sure you take him the back way.” He whispered before stepping back and letting the men close the doors and drive off.
“Hey boss!” They heard, looking over at a woman standing by a few parked cars. She had dark hair that went to her shoulders, wearing all black which were also tight, showing her thin body. She motioned them over, and they went over and saw a knife.
Nick put on rubber clothes and stepped over to it, gently picking it up and stood straight.
“What is it?” Andrew asked.
“It’s a knife.” Jon muttered.
Andrew slumped and looked at him. “Well no shit.”
Nick waved the two off before speaking. “We’ll take it to the lab and have them look at it.” He eyed it, “I don’t see any signs of blood.” He looked over at the woman, her name was Valeyria, a beautiful Russian woman who was also a vampire. “Do you have a evidence bag?”
She popped the gum she was chewing and she took a bag and hand it over. He gently placed it inside and handed it to Andrew. “Make sure they get this.”
Andrew took it and looked at him. “Looks like we have a busy week ahead of us.”
With a human girl missing and one murdered, it was starting to look like crime was starting to pick up. As awful as it sounded, it was like Christmas to Andrew. He had nothing else to do, so when he had a case he got to work on, he was fine because it kept his mind off of things.
Nick’s phone rung, which he quickly answered. “Nick Bates.” It was Shawn. He listened carefully and slowly nodded. “I see. Well, keep looking and get back to me.” He answered and looked up at them. “Turns out the boy has been living with a group of kids the next county over, like a run down apartment building that they managed to take over.” Shawn explained as he walked with the three back to the scene of the crime. “Just a few months ago, a woman went missing and when police found her, she was dead in those apartments and was also suspected of sexual abuse.”
Jon looked mortified. “Those kids did it?”
“It was never really proven whether they did or not. The case was never really looked at. Like it was just thrown in the back of police’s minds and never cared to look at it.”
Jon shook his head, looking over at Andrew. “Think we should reopen that case? If it’s connected to this kid, it’ll probably explain what’s going on.”
Andrew nodded. “I think we should.” he looked at Nick. “Think we can get the files?”
“I’m sure Shawn can get it for you.” Nick threw his cigarette down and stepped on it.
