A couple weeks went by after Naruto's birthday and he was now attending the shinobi school. Him and Sasuke still got along but they didn't interact as much anymore which concerned me. Naruto was having a rough time at the school due to the fact that he was hated by the village. This only caused me more worries. Itachi's behaviour had become increasingly more strange and withdrawn. He didn't smile like he used to and he didn't talk to anyone as much as he had done. Kakashi had noticed the changes in his behaviour as well due to them going on ANBU missions together. I had tried to ask Mikoto about Itachi but she seemed to not know anything either.

Deciding to pick Naruto up from school today, I headed off towards where I knew he'd be. Other parents stood outside waiting for their children. They noticed me and began to gossip like the idiots that they were. Others nodded respectfully towards me before going back to waiting for their children. The doors opened and children came pouring out. They disappeared off with their parents and it seemed to just be me standing there. Where was Naruto? I hadn't seen Sasuke either..... Just as I thought this, Sasuke came running out of the doors with a smile on his face. He noticed me and waved before running off somewhere. Naruto came trudging out of the doors and had a sad frown on his lips. Letting out a sigh, I knew that he had had another rough day at school.
"Naruto....." I called softly. His head snapped up and his eyes widened when he saw me standing there. Running towards me, he jumped up into my arms and wrapped his arms around my neck. "Another rough day huh?" He nodded and rested his head against my shoulder. "Don't worry. They're treating you like this right now, but wait until you prove them wrong. You're going to become a Hokage after all right?" I smiled encouragingly. He pulled back to stare at me shocked, a grin soon sliding onto his face. He nodded enthusiastically and hugged me tighter. Ever since he was a baby, he would always be attached to me tightly so he could feel my warmth and seemed to like hearing my heart beat. I knew that he was lonely and that he understood how I wasn't related to him through blood. The other children made sure of that at school. Sasuke and him had told me of it and though Naruto already knew this, it still made him sad to hear I wasn't his family through blood and that he didn't have any blood related family members. "Let's go get some Ramen huh?" I murmured, running a hand through his hair. He beamed excitedly and jumped down, grabbing my hand and dragging me along behind him. He sure loved his Ramen.

Arriving at Ichiraku Ramen, we went in and sat at the seats there. Teuchi, the owner of the shop smiled when he saw the two of us and went straight to doing our order. We always ate the same thing and liked the same type of Ramen. Ayame, his daughter stood beside him and came over to lean on the counter.
"Hey guys." She smiled. "How's things going?" I glanced at Naruto worriedly and she noticed, a look of understanding crossing onto her face. "Still going to become Hokage?"
"Believe it!" Naruto grinned, happiness shining in his eyes.
"Yeah he'll become Hokage and I'll become an old woman." I chuckled, ruffling his hair affectionately. Ayame smiled at this before a mischievous grin slid onto her lips.
"How's things between you and Kakashi? Done it yet?" She asked, a teasing tone in her voice. A faint blush covered my cheeks before I gave her a glare.
"Things are fine thank you. And that is none of your business."
"Done what yet?" Naruto asked, confusion clear in his voice.
"Nothing sweetie. Ayame's being silly." I smiled reassuringly, making sure he stayed innocent. He frowned, still confused but said nothing else and was quickly distracted when Teuchi handed him his ramen. "Can you not talk about this in front of him? He's a child." I whispered with a glare to Ayame.
"Have you done it yet or not?" She laughed, making sure Naruto couldn't hear this time.
"Yes." I answered bluntly, a smirk sliding onto my lips. We had done it a little while ago. There was nothing wrong with that. We loved each other and were both adults. She gaped at me before bursting into laughter. Rolling my eyes, I began to dig into my own food.

It was late now and I began to get a bad feeling. I wasn't sure why, but it felt like something bad was going to happen, and it felt like Itachi had something to do with it. Kakashi was home now so I asked him to keep an eye on Naruto. He agreed so I headed out towards the Uchiha Clan's area. Running through the streets, I noticed how quiet it was. Entering the area the Uchiha Clan resided in, I saw blood splattered around along with kunai's and other weapons. What had happened here?! Bodies lay around the streets, their eyes lifeless and bodies cold. Who had done this? Hearing voices, I sprinted towards the source of the noise. Stood there in the street was Itachi and Sasuke.
"Foolish brother. If you want to kill me, then blame me. Hate me. And live on in shame. Run and run..... Cling desperately to life. Then, one day, come before me with the eyes that I bear now!" Suddenly Sasuke's eyes turned completely black and he fell to the floor. Rushing forward, I tackled Itachi and pinned him to the floor.
"What in the hell do you think you're doing?!" I exclaimed angrily, hurt that the boy I'd thought of as my own little brother would do this to his own Clan. There had to be a reason but why?!
"Ah, Katsu. Didn't think you'd show up." He replied in a stoic tone. "Unfortunately, I can't let you leave alive." Shocked by his behaviour, I didn't react in time to block his attack. A kunai came up and stabbed me in the stomach then the chest. Pain passed through my system but I held back my pained expression. Instead tears welled up in my eyes as I looked down at Itachi. However, what shocked me the most were the tears that were falling down his own cheeks as he glanced from me to his brother. Before I could say anything, he kicked me off and ran from the village. Tempted to go after him, I kept myself in check and stumbled over to Sasuke. I'd been through lots of pain in the past. What was most important right now was Sasuke's life. Pulling out the kunai's, I ignored the blood pouring from the wounds and picked up the boy. His eyes still had some life in them and I saw them focus in on my face.
"Katsu-nee....." He mumbled before his eyes closed and he fell unconscious. Hurrying as much as I could, I burst through the hospital doors. Eyes focused on the both of us and gasps echoed through the halls.
"He needs help. Please." I pleaded. A medic nin ran over and took him from me. Once I saw that he was going to be ok, I felt my eyes begin to droop shut as more people ran over to me. Darkness pulled me and I gave in to it, knowing that I was giving in to unconsciousness and possibly death if the kunai to the chest was fatal enough. Sorry Sasuke. Sorry Naruto. Sorry Kakashi......
