Harry's POV

I didn't know for how long I had been walking, but I was starting to get anxious. I had never felt this way by darkness, but this one in particularly made me uneasy. Luckily I had brought the Knife of The Fall with me. You never knew what you'd encounter in these boundaries.

I was prepared for any contingency.

Better safe than sorry, I thought.

I looked around but all you could see was darkness. Funny how just a while ago I felt at easy surrounded by darkness and considered it home, but now it just felt like I was an outsider. I'm missing something, no, someone. That's why. I had found home in another place.

I closed my eyes and tried as hard as I could to find any glimpse of energy, as little as it were, emanating from Raiza's soul.

'Raiza?' I called her. 'Angel, can you hear me?'

I waited a few minutes, hoping I'd hear her voice.

I waited.

I waited.

Nothing.

I sighed and ruffled my hair in despair. Fuck

"SOUL!" I heard a groan coming out of nowhere.

Suddenly a man leaped on me but I managed to dodge him in the last second.

I looked at the motionless body lying on the ground. I was so concentrated trying to find Raiza that didn't felt his energy at all. I was completely taken by surprise. But... This human doesn't emanate any energy whatsoever. He's just dead.

The body started moving again and the man leaped on me once again. But before he got near I grabbed him by the neck.

"SOUL! GIVE ME A SOUL!" He screamed, moving his arms frenetically.

"I don't fucking have time for this."

I threw him against the ground and before he could do anything I pierced his chest with my hand. Just seconds later his body burst in flames and only ashes remained.

"Fucking dead." I said getting up and shaking the dust from my jacket.

"Well, well, well. Look who's here." A deep voice said amused. I didn't need to turn around to know it who was. My body's reaction gave me all the information I needed; shivers went down my spine. "I thought I had told those demons to take out all the trash." I put my hands in the pockets of my leather jacket and looked at him sideways. I knew exactly whom he was referring to by 'trash', but I honestly couldn't have given a shit. He shrugged. "I guess if you want the job to be done properly, you have to do it yourself."

"Hey, Luc." I smiled defiant, tilting my head back. A few long locks of hair fell to my eyes. "It seems the eternal damnation is not treating you well. You look like hell."

"Funny." Lucifer smiled, but it was a fake one. I knew he never liked my nonchalant way of talking to him. He had been the only one who had the guts to defy God and his authority, and I should have respect towards him. Or at least that was what he had always told me. And what had always been my answer? 'Send me to hell then' added to a middle finger as I walked away.

"Look, I'd love to revive our old feelings of rivalry but I'm in the middle of something." I said, as I started walking away not even waiting for an answer from him.

"I know who you're looking for and where to find her." The Devil said.

"You're the devil." I stated, without stop walking nor turning back. "Every single word that comes from your mouth is a lie."

"Well... If you want to take that risk then..."

I stopped in my tracks. I didn't like the tone in which he had said it. "Why would you even know where is she?" I asked annoyed, turning to face him. "To begin with, why would you even care?"

"I was with Raiza just a few minutes before you appeared."

"What?" How the hell does he know about her? How the hell does he know her name?

"But she's with the Mal'ake ha-Mavet right now." The Devil smiled pleased. "That's a shame. Seems you were a little late."

"It was you." I closed my eyes, placing my thumb and my ring finger on the bridge of my nose. "Zayn had implied someone else was involved in this." I stared at Lucifer, trying to decipher what the bloody hell did he had to do with this. "What do you want with Raiza? She's mine. I already claimed her. Raiza chose me."

"But what if that didn't matter at all once she faces her destiny?" He asked nonchalant while playing with a flame between his fingers.

"What do you mean?"

Lucifer closed his hand and the flame extinguished. A wild spark danced in his eyes. "When Raiza gives into her fear of the darkness and falls victim to the Mal'ake ha-Mavet, the Grim Reaper, there won't be turning back. Her soul will be mine and it will be trapped in the shadows for eternity."

I couldn't help but laugh. What he was saying was just complete nonsense. "Do you really think Raiza will chose you? That she will fall under your so-called 'charm'? Just like that?" I shook my head still laughing. "I'm sorry to disappoint you but she's not that stupid like the humans you've deceived before."

"Have you ever heard about the Albanum Maleficarum?"

"The grimoire? What about it?"

"Let me tell you a story, Harry." Lucifer said in a condescending tone, as if I was a child.

"I don't like bed time stories, sorry pal." I yawned.

I was about to turn around and start walking when something in those wild eyes made me feel uneasy.

Suddenly a huge black leather sofa appeared behind him. "Oooh, trust me." He smiled mischievously as he dropped himself on it and put his legs on one of the inside arms. "You'll like this one."

The scenery started to changed and we were transported back in time.

The black colour surrounding us slowly turned into a deep blue sky with clouds. We were floating, and underneath our feet there was an ancient, long-forgotten civilisation.
