Chapter 2, Truth Or Dare
"Well, maybe she's stopped at the store or something?" asked Sabrina hopefully.
I heard a sharp, "NO!" from the other end.
"Well, how do you know?" asked Sabrina freshly. She always knows how to stand up for herself.
Now Heather's mother was really aggrivated and was practically screaming into the phone. "SHE IS A SMART GIRL! SHE WOULD NEVER MAKE ANY STOPS KNOWING THAT THIS WEATHER WAS APPROACHING!"
"I thought you were a smart mother... I guess not. I mean, letting your daughter walk through this?" she said meanly.
Nikki said quietly, "Ooooh. Burn."
The other side was silent, but it suddenly errupted in yelling. "ARE YOU CALLING ME A BAD MOTHER?" For a second, I had thought Sabrina switched the phone to speaker because it was so loud.
"Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not. YOUR daughter is not MY responsibility," said Sabrina. Good thing her mother wasn't in the room, she would be scolding her so badly for mouthing off to an adult. But then again, Heather's parents never really got along with Sabrina's family. Maybe she'd be egging her daughter on in the background.
"But SHE'S YOUR FRIEND!" I'm surprised Rina's phone hasn't broken yet from the intensity of the volume.
Sabrina slammed the phone into it's station. "Good. Bye." She smiled at us and Nina spoke up.
"I think Heather may have said something about being late... Maybe... Did she say anything to you, Chrissa?" she asked me.
"Yeah. I think she said she was stopping to pick up her paycheck or something. But that could of been right after school, not before the party. I'm not really sure..." I looked to the ceiling in thought, not remembering any more though.
"Okay. She'll probably arrive soon, then. We'll just vote on the movies right before we watch them, I guess. What should we do then?" asked Sabrina.
"Let's play truth or dare!" suggested Missy, a wicked smile on her face. She's been teasing me for decades about me liking this boy, Cameron, in my class. But I don't. She thinks I do though, and he happens to be her boyfriend.
When we play truth or dare. No one ever even thinks about lying. They're too scared. Because Whitney is practically a lie detector. She can tell if your lying or not. Her mother did a study on lying and Whitney helped her with it.
"Sure. Let's head to my room," said Sabrina. All the girls shuffled up the stairs in a slow procession, scared that they were about to have their deepest secrets revealed. I ran up as fast as I could. I was excited that I would finally have Missy off my back. Because I know she'll ask me if I like Cameron. And she'll find out the truth.
We all sat down on Sabrina's miscellanious seats. Her bead, her desk chair, her bean bag seat, her rug. And formed a lumpy circle.
"Okay. Sabrina, you first. Since it's your birthday," said Whitney. She's practically the truth or dare referee. She's also the only person that can lie when someone asks her a question.
"Okay..." She looked around. Her eyes singled in on the quiet couple of friends she had. Renee and Sara. Then her glare shifted to Nina, Whitney, and I, her smarter friends. Then, her stare zeroed in on Nikki and Missy, her extremely popular, outgoing friends, the category she fits into herself. Missy, being more of a bully, ended up as Sabrina's first target.
Then, Missy looked up, realizing what Sabrina was about to do, she pleaded, "Awww, Rina! Noooo."
"Sorry, hun. I gotta do what I gotta do." She smiled her evil grin and asked the faithful question. "Truth or dare?"
