Ariana's POV (her rn lmao^)

"Run!" Luke blurted out. He ran off on the bloody road, and I tracked after him.

As we were running, I spotted an old store I used to buy from all the time. Target!

"Stop!" I said in a hushed tone to Luke, holding my arm in front of him.

"What? We gotta go, we have to find a way back to your house," Luke demanded. "Are you really tempted to go into that store? Don't think about food right now or we will become food!"

"Shut up and come with me!" I said, dragging him into the store. "Watch your back."

I pulled out my knife and listened for any zombies. I heard faint clicks.

A stay in place.

Stay in place zombies can't move, but if you get close enough to them they can eat you. They click to lure you in. Then they start moving for a while, until they can't move again.

"It's safe, just don't get too close to the stay in place." I cautioned Luke.

"Oh my god, go get some bags. I'm so excited, we can get a bunch of stuff from Target!" Luke squealed.

"Luke, Target is huge. We have to stay very close, because there could be droolers, stay in places, walkers or even norms in here."

"Yeah, yeah. But come on, let's get some new clothes!" Luke exclaimed, handing me a plastic bag and grabbing one for himself.

Basically, Luke dragged me around the store and grabbed shoes, shirts, skinny jeans and underwear off the racks. But now his goal was electronics and solar powered chargers.

"Oh my god! We can get new iPhones!" Luke exclaimed, stuffing two iPhone 6's in his bag and stuffing solar powered chargers in mine.

Does he realize anything that doesn't support survival is worthless?

"All we can use is the damn flash or clock on iPhone's." I stated, turning around and grabbing flashlights along with batteries off the shelf.

I spotted walkie-talkies and grabbed them in astonishment.

"Look! Walkie-talkies! And there are even Hello Kitty ones, so we can text eachother! This is so useful!"

Luke gave me a look.

"Um, those look so crappy."

"But they don't need connection so you can shut up. This is actually something useful! Now let's get some groceries-" i was cut off by Luke clamping a hand over my mouth.

"Don't say a word. We have to get out of here. I just saw someone. Let's get out, we can't risk a norm, or even a blender trying to tag along with us." Luke shakily breathed out.

I tightened my bag and nodded. Blenders are already turned, but look like a normal human. They'll eat you and go right back to blending.

I tried to step lightly, like a ninja behind Luke. Every 10 seconds I would do a 360 check, not trusting anything here.

"Oh my god, hi! Are you alive?!"

Damnit.

I whipped around to see a boy 20 feet away from me, holding hands with a girl who looked about 6.

"Hi. Can we join your group?"

Fùck.

I was glad to have Luke, but three is a crowd. And a child who will probably always be crying and blowing our cover to zombies? No. Luke found me running from zombies, but these people are in Target with a stay in place. They could be norms.

"Who are you?" Luke questioned.

"I'm Calum Hood. I'm 19, and we don't have a group. This is my 5 year old daughter,  Ariel."

"Hi." Ariel squeaked out.

She was so cute, I almost felt bad. But my generosity was all gone at the moment.

"No." I stated, grabbing onto Luke and trying to run but Luke wouldn't budge.

"I've spent years looking for other humans, and in less than two days I found 3 people. We can't leave them."

"They could be norms!" I reasoned. He had just said this a minute ago!

"Ariana! Seriously? No their not!" Luke whisper yelled.

"I've know you less than a whole day. I'm not risking it for you. You can stay with them but, don't come near my house. Ever."

"Ariana, please! That girl is 5!"

"Which means they survived the apocalypse. They can continue to on their own." I huffed, walking away from Luke.

I continued to walk and heard nothing behind me. I stopped in my tracks and huffed, because i did want Luke to come with me.

"Calum and the norm, you can come with us." I said coldy, clenching my fist.

"All right!" I heard Calum cheer.

"But first, we have to get some food. I hope your daughter is strong enough to carry the food she'll be eating for a while."

"I don't like her, Dad. Why is she so mean? I don't want to go with them!" I heard a squeaky voice say behind me.

"Never Mind, have a nice life all of you. But, y'all aren't coming to my house. Bye Luke, hope you don't die, or at least change you mind. I'll be in the food section if you need me Luke, bye bítches."

I haven't interacted with another human in 2 years and I'm not gonna die with an annoying four year old blabbing in my ear.

"Wait!" I heard Calum's accented voice call behind me, and he put his hand on my shoulder then whipped me around.

"Ariel didn't mean that!" He reassured, looking over to his pouting child. I could she the lice in her hair.

"Ew, she has lice!"

"Ew, she has an ugly face!"

Well damn, Calum sure has taught her a nice vocabulary.

"I hope you have to kill a gusher so all types of zombies come after you!" I whispered, grabbing a box of fruit roll-ups and capri-suns then running out of Target down to my house.
