3~ Good Looking, But An Asshole

I run forward, at full speed and jump off the door of the dropship. My combat boots hit the soil. It was the first time they ever touched anything but metal. The sun sent warmth all over my skin. The scent of the real air filled my lungs. The sight of so much green made me want to just melt. It made me happy. I was happy. Something in my head told me that soon reality would come crashing down, but for these few moments the fact that I am alive and on solid ground is combustible.

Clarke suddenly passes me, not soaking in the moment like I, but storming away from the dropship. I follow after her, determined to not let her die when we just merely escaped death itself. Passing a boy using a rolled up map as a sword, Clarke snatches it from him, puts it between her teeth, and starts to climb the nearest tree.

"Ugh" I groan and start climbing after her. This wasn't the first time I had helped Clarke not die. I was a  year older than Clarke so I was always protective over her, even now when we are actually on Earth.

Clarke pulls herself to the highest point of the tree, me following. I finally stop climbing as the leaves thin and the view steals my breath once again. Densely forested, mist-shrounded mountains as far as the eye can see. It looked almost fairy tale-ish.

"What's wrong?" I ask her as she perches on the nearest branch and unravels the map.

Clarke jumps a bit. "You see that peak over there?" Clarke asks as she points to one of the tallest mountains out there.

"Yeah." I answer.

"Mount Weather. There's a radiation soaked forest between us and our next meal." Clarke says, finishing her point.

Anger takes over me at once. All the beauty of the view and the amazing taste of the fresh air being sucked away by this one thought.

"They dropped us on the wrong god damn mountain." I spit angrily.

As we get back to the ground from the trees I notice something. The Hundred have spread out amid the trees all around the incongruously located ship. For the most part, girls and boys are separate. But there's a more subtle segregation based on which of the Ark's stations a person comes from. Station rivalries could possibly make cooperation impossible.

Clarke and I sit down on the dropship's door, our feet dangling over into the soil. Wells comes striding from the ship.

"We got problems." Wells says sitting down next to Clarke. "The communication system is dead. I went to the roof. A dozen panels are missing. Heat fried the wires."

"Right now all that matters is getting to Mount Weather." Clarke says, clearly irritated that Wells was there.

I tap the spot on the map where the lines intersect, "This is us." I say, then point to Mount Weather. "This is where we need to be if we want to survive."

Wells goes on to say something but I didn't hear him.

"Let's get something straight, okay?" Clarke yells at Wells. I took that as my time to leave. I stood up from the door and walked over to some people that didn't look that threatening. A skinny boy with big black goggles on his head stands, resting against a tree along with another skinny, dark haired and skinned boy.

"Hey, I'm Tatum." I say sitting down next to them.

"We know who you are." The dark skinny one says.

"How?" I ask.

"Doesn't matter." The other one says. "I'm Jasper and this is Monty."

"Nice to meet you Jasper and Monty." I say smiling at them.

Suddenly a commosion from where I had just come from grabs my attention.

"We're on the ground. That's not good enough for you?" Bellamy yells at Wells and Clarke. I stand up and run over to the scene.

"We need to find Mount Weather." Wells says to the gathering crowd. "You heard my father's message. That has to be our first priority."

"Screw your father! You think you're in charge here? You and your little princess?" Octavia fires back.

"Don't call her princess." Wells yells back.

I'd had enough. I pushed through the crowd and stood between Wells and Clarke and Bellamy and Octavia.

"It doesn't matters who's in charge and who isn't!" I yell towards the crowd. "We need to find Mount Weather. Not because the Chancellor said so, but because the longer we wait, the hungrier we'll get, the harder it'll be. How long do you think we'll last out here without those supplies?"

I pause for a second, looking out at the crowd standing behind Bellamy. My eyes glance over Bellamy, damn he's good looking.

"We're looking at a 20-mile trek. If we wanna make it before dark, we need to leave...now." Clarke says stepping up next to me.

"I got a better idea.." Bellamy says stepping up inches from my face. "You three go. Find it for us. Let the privileged do the hard work for a change." Okay, he was good looking but a total asshole.

A cheer erupts through the crowd. Bellamy looks slightly surprised at the crowds reaction to what he said.

"You're not listening." I say stepping closer to him. "We all need to go."

Just then, a particularly rough boy steps up and glares at me. "Look, everybody. It's the Chancellor of the Earth."

"That's not funny." Wells growls stepping up next to me.

Without blinking the rough looking guy executes a vicious leg sweep, throwing Wells to the ground.

"No...but that is." The boy says.

Wells gets back to his feet, badly favoring one leg, but ready to fight. The crowd circles, relishing the chance to watch the Chancellor's son get the shit beat out of him.

I badly want to step in and  stop it, but before I can, Finn drops from the trees above, riding a bending branch to the ground, touching down right between the two.

"Whoa. Sweet." The rough looking boy who I believe is named John says at Finn's entrance.

"Thanks." Finn says smiling widely "Hold this." Finn hands the branch to John. The moment the boy has a hold of it, Finn lets go. The recoil sending John flying.

The crowd roars with delight, I couldn't help myself but laugh along. Clarke looks highly impressed by Finn.

"Hey Spacewalker," Octavia says, stepping in between Clarke and Finn. "Rescue me next?"

The crowd breaks off in all different directions and Bellamy and Octavia walk away, deep in conversation. Clarke bends down to examine Wells' ankle, her medical training from her mother becoming evident.

"When do we leave?" Finn asks.

"Right now." I say walking up next to them.

Wells looks ready to object, his ankle no where near being able to walk 20 miles on.

Clarke looks to Wells. "We'll be back tomorrow with food. Once the others know the supplies are still there, they'll follow."

"How are just three of you going to carry enough food for a hundred?" Wells asks smartly.

I turn and grab Jasper by the collar and Monty by the shirt and shove them in front of me.

"Five of us." I say smiling.

"Can we go now?" Finn asks.

Octavia walks over with a smirk on her face, "Sounds like a party. Make it six."

Bellamy hurries behind her, catching her arm. "What the hell are you doing?"

"Going for a walk!" Octavia exclaims, tearing her arm away.

"Okay! Let's move out!" I yell. I turn back to look at Bellamy. He was giving me a nasty look. All I did was wink at him and his face changed to a smirk. I gave him one last look before turning and running off after Clarke.
