"Hey, hold up. What's the rush? You don't survive a spear to the heart." Bellamy says as he and Murphy were a good couple of feet behind the rest of us.

"Put the gun away, Bellamy." Clarke growls.

"Well, why don't you do something about it, huh?" Bellamy ags on.

"Jasper screamed when they moved him." I say walking in between them. "If the spear struck his heart, he'd have died instantly. It doesn't mean we have time to waste." I say glaring at both of them.

Bellamy grabs my wrist, holding it up for me to see. "As soon as you take this off, we'll go."

Clarke shoves Bellamy back a little, giving me my wrist back. "The only way the Ark will think she's dead is if she's actually dead." Clarke growls getting in Bellamy's face. "Got it?"

"Hey!" Finn says, breaking the tension. "We have to split up, cover more ground. Clarke, come with me."

"Tatum, you're with me." Bellamy smirks, looking over at me.

I roll my eyes but decide that he literally may be my only chance at saving Jasper.

We all split off, taking a different route towards the river. Murphy went with Wells and I slightly found myself hoping they didn't try to kill each other.

As Bellamy and I walked, I gazed up at the trees and down at the grass. I was determined to find Jasper, but even then my mind seemed to wonder to the beauty of Earth.

"So," Bellamy says, breaking my train of thought. "what did you do to get busted?"

"Nothing." I replied, staring straight forward.

"Oh, I see how it is, you don't want to tell me."

"Why would I want to give that type of information to a guy I met yesterday?" I say, raising my eyebrow.

"Maybe because I'm your only chance at surviving out here." Bellamy answers.

"I can take care of myself." I mumble trying to drop the topic.

"I'll tell you what I did." Bellamy says.

"And what makes you think I want to know what you did?" I ask.

Bellamy didn't answer, instead he just looked at me in silence.

"You're a curious thing." Bellamy mumbles, apparently something he meant for me not to hear.

"I hope that's a good thing."

"It is...a really good thing."

"Guys!" I hear yelling to the left of us.

We turn and see Finn, Clarke, Murphy, and Wells all surrounding an area.

"He's been here, Jasper." Clarke says looking over at fresh blood on the gravel.

"This way." Finn says walking the opposite direction.

"How do we know this is the right way?" I ask, not being able to help being skeptical.

"We don't. Spacewalker thinks he's a tracker." Bellamy says.

"It's called fourth-year Earth Skills. He's good." Wells says turning to both of us, with a little sass.

"You want to keep it down back there or should I paint a target on our backs?" Finn whispers back to us.

Distant screams cut the bickering. I jump slightly and instantly my hand grabs Bellamy's wrist. Bellamy and I both look down at our sudden contact and slowly drop my hand.

"Get your gun out." I whisper nodding towards his waist band.

We begin speed walking towards the screams. Just as we come up on them, they turn into groans. As if the person who was screaming, lost all energy to do so.

"Jasper! Oh my god!" I cry out as we see Jasper sprung up on the tree, bleeding profusely from his chest. Ropes were bound tightly around his abdomen and wrists, clinging him to the oak.

I run forward, desperately trying to help him.

"Tatum! Stop!" Bellamy yells, running after me and grabbing me but the arm just as I lost my footing and almost fell into a hole with spears at the bottom.

I freeze for a moment, staring down in the hole that could have been my death place.

"You okay?" Bellamy asks.

"Yeah." I say looking away from the hole and back at Jasper. "We need to get him down."

"I'll climb up there and cut the vines." Murphy says. "Finn, let's go."

"I'm coming too." I say slightly pushing Bellamy away and stepping forward with Murphy and Finn.

"No." Bellamy says, once again grabbing my arm. "You're staying with me and Clarke to make sure no one comes and tries to get Jasper back."

I look back at him, about to protest, when I realize that he was doing it for my own good.

I nod and turn towards the woods, guarding.

"There's a poultice on his wound." Clarke says watching as Murphy and Finn climb the tree towards Jasper.

"Medicine? Why would they save his life just to string him up as live bait?" Wells asks.

"Maybe what they're trying to catch likes their dinner breathing." Bellamy suggests.

"Maybe what they're trying to catch is us." I say.

"Hurry up Murphy!" Finn yells as Murphy roughly tries to cut the ropes loose.

"Be careful." Clarke reminds.

Suddenly a loud growl comes from the far woods, over near Bellamy. I turn fast and get out one of my knives from my boot and hold it in front of me for protection.

"What was that?" I ask, not taking my eyes off the woods.

"Grounders?" Finn asks.

A large black mass comes sprinting out of the trees. Too fast for anyone to comprehend.

"Bellamy! Gun!" I yell as the black thing sprints towards Bellamy.

Panic enters my body as Bellamy reaches down for his gun and notices that it's no longer there. The black creature roars and jumps on top of Bellamy, taking him to the ground. Bellamy has no other weapons on him so the only thing between the creature's teeth and Bellamy's head is Bellamy's arms.

I race over, turning the knife I had in my hands at a 90 degree angle and launching it towards the animal. The knife flies, hitting the creature right in the abdomen. What I didn't think about was the fact that my tiny little knife didn't hit the creatures heart.

"Tatum! Run!" Clarke yells.

The creature's head whips around, eyeing me. He launches off of Bellamy and immediately begins sprinting towards me. It takes me a second to realize what is happening before my feet start moving in the opposite direction.

All I could hear was the yells of my friends at the tree and the sound of the animal growling at me as it hunted me down. I ran at full speed towards the trees. Maybe I can climb one of them and escape it.

Suddenly a loud gun shot filled my ears and the animal gave a loud whimper before falling, dead on the ground.

I look over, out of breathe, to see Wells holding Bellamy's gun, still pointed in the air, with a shocked look on his face.
