I walked down the hallway with a weird feeling in my gut, but I decided to push that feeling aside as I continued walking towards my locker. Grabbing my Human Anatomy book, the school's bell rang, signaling us that first period was about to start. I headed into my first class of the day, Human Anatomy, and as I got in I noticed my best friend Emily, sitting in the front with a bored expression on her face. When she finally noticed me sitting down behind her, she turns around with excitement. Maybe too much excitement if you asked me. She was basically grinning at me like a cheshire cat. I smiled before greeting her. "Hey Em."
"Hey Maddie!" She greeted excitedly with the same cheshire grin plastered on her face.
The teacher, Mrs. Johnson, walked in, making her way to her desk at the front of the classroom. "Good morning class! Today, we'll be starting on chapter 6..."
Soon after, I started to drift off not, paying attention to anything going on around me. As I was daydreaming about whatever I felt like, I felt something hit me in the face. I looked up to see Emily holding a paper ball in her hand with a devilish grin now. I smirked, taking on her challenge. I grabbed some papers and rolled them into a ball then threw it at her.
'Bullseye!' The paper ball flew out of my hand and hit her right on the forehead. She glared and threw another paper ball when the teacher wasn't looking. I threw one back, but this time she was ready and dodged it, much to my amazement. I realized a second too late, the paper ball flew right over Emily's head and hitted Mrs. Johnson on the back of her head.
Mrs. Johnson stopped mid-sentence and turned to look around the classroom. Her eyes landed on me, I was caught in an uncompromising position, my hand was still in the air. I mentally face palmed myself as she cleared her throat. In front of me, I can clearly see that Emily was trying really hard to contain her laughter.
"Miss Ann, I would be very pleased if you would step out of my class." Mrs. Johnson demanded.
At that exact moment the bell rang, signalling that class was over. I sighed in relief, jumping up with joy. "Sorry Mrs. Johnson, but class is over. I guess I'll have to face my punishment another day." I laughed, walking out with Emily by my side, laughing her a** off.
Mrs. Johnson was one of those teachers who have punishments for the students that acts out. But unlike most, her punishments are quite unusual. The punishment is to squat down right outside her door until class is over and depending on your conditions, she will even add a book or two for you to hold above your head. Other times, you'll have to run laps around the school building.
Once Emily and I made it to our locker, Emily began to ramble on and on about how funny my face was when I was caught red handed. I placed back my book, grabbing another when in my peripheral vision, I could see Mason and his group of friends, laughing and joking around.
Mason McCallister has the most beautiful hazel, brown eyes that were dreamy and captivating, a really contagious smile that'll make you melt, messy dark brown hair, but the really sexy kind. I couldn't help myself, so I continued checking him out from his perfect jawline, down to his broad shoulders, nicely sculpted muscles, strong forearms, and of course his hard chest. By now you should probably get the picture.
He was basically the kind of guy that every girl would drool all over, doing anything and everything just to get closer to him. Although, he isn't the kind to sleep around. He was a handsome, sweet, caring, and a smart kind of guy. The kind of guy that adopts puppies from a rescue shelter to give them a warm and cozy home. It might not look like it from the image that he carries, but it's the truth. He do like puppies.
Mason walked right passed me without even looking my way, but I continued to stare as he disappeared around the corner. I was still in a daze when I heard my name being called.
"Maddie! Maddie! Earth to Maddie! Are you even listening to me?"
I snapped out of my trance. Emily was snapping her fingers in my face, helping me slowly get back to reality. "Huh?" Was the best response I could give her.
"Ugh! You were too busy daydreaming about lover boy over there, weren't you?" She glared.
"N-No! O-of course not. Wh-what are you talking about?" I exclaimed while my face heats up.
"Don't give me that b*llshit, every time he walks by, you would drool and go into LaLa Land, thinking of the days you and Prince Charming would get married and have six kids." She growled at me. "Anyways, ain't he your so called childhood friend, you talked about the other day at the sleepover at my house?"
"Yeah, he's the one" I sighed loudly.
"Well sh*t. Did you hear?" She whispered, leaning closer to me. "I heard that Natalie is back, and it seems like they are actually together. As in, in love or engaged or something. Looks like the government got them."
My heart sank, my eyes became watery. The pain came back to the day we first met each other again. "Really?" I asked, looking down.
"Yeah, sorry." She said sympathetically, hugging me.
It had been 10 years since I haven't seen him. Now he's back, but he didn't even look my way. My best friend, the love of my life, has been taken away from me.
