I ran outside and into the forest. Grinning, I climbed up a tree and sat on a branch high up so that I could see the whole backyard. Camdyn ran out of the house and looked around before crouching in front of a kid of maybe 3. The little boy pointed in my direction and I narrowed my eyes. I guess I have a cheater for a mate.

Just as Camdyn thanked the kid and stood up, there was a howl from far away and I could practically feel the pain and fear in it. I jumped down from the tree, stumbling against the jarring it gave my knees. Women were rushing forward, ushering children into the pack house. This one woman collapsed to her knees and started sobbing heartbrokenly. She was clutching her chest and I ran to her.

"What's wrong?"

"Brent... he's dead." She looked up at me and gripped her stomach with one hand. "That was his warning call... and now he's dead." She started sobbing again and curled into a ball. "He didn't even know that I was pregnant yet."

My anger rocketed at the unfairness of her situation. Despite my feelings, I tried to get her to stand and go into the house to protect herself and her child. She couldn't get to her feet, she was too weak, so when Camdyn started yelling for everyone to get ready, I scooped her into my arms and ran her over to a gaurd by the door. He took her from me and carried her into the house. I turned and walked over to Camdyn, standing at his left side, since his right was taken up by his beta.

"Caleb! Thank god you're here!"

I frowned as a woman ran out of the woods, looking like she was running from hell's demons. Caleb gasped and ran froward, hugging her and swinging her around. She smacked his arm and commanded him to put her down.

Serendipity was growling at the woman and had narrowed eyes. Flicking back her hair to show her mark, she marched up to Caleb and wrapped her arms around him. The woman squealed and started clapping her hands. Then her eyes landed on me and she froze.

"Legna! Come here! I want you to meet Cindy, she was mom's best friend before she died." Caleb waved me forward with the arm that wasn't wrapped around Serendipity's waist.

"She's your sister? She's the Feared One!" Cindy's wide eyes danced between Caleb and I while I walked closer.

"That she may be, but she's not going to kill you, Cindy."

I frowned and stopped beside my brother. Cindy's eyes roamed over me and her brows furrowed. "You must have your father's hair color and eyes, because your mother looks more like Caleb."

I snorted at her assumption. "The one child in the universe to look nothing like either biological parent. Of course that'd be me."

Camdyn's arm crept around my waist and he chuckled. "Don't worry about it, you're perfect the way you are." He whispered in my ear and I blushed, looking down at the ground.

"Well, isn't this touching."

We spun around to face the person who'd spoken. "Eric?" I looked at Camdyn. "Took care of him, eh? That explains why he's standing right here, right?"

"How'd you escape the cell?"

Eric just grinned evilly and held his hand out. "I came this time for two things. First, the little bitch that got away from us. Second, my mate, who ran away from us."

"You're not getting anyone."

"Too bad. Guess we'll be taking them the hard way boys." Eric was suddenly backed up by hundreds of vampires. "Kill everyone except my mate, the Feared One, and lover-boy over there."

The vampires lunged into action and wolfs burst forth by the hundreds. Damn, I didn't realize that the pack was this huge. Shaking my head to refocus, I stepped away from Camdyn and sank into a fighting stance when Eric did. He smirked at me as he started circling me.
