I sat at my desk, staring out the window, ignoring the teacher's droning lecture. Resting my chin in the palm of my hand, I watched two rain drops slide down the glass pane, racing each other to the bottom. When they almost reached the bottom, I registered the snickering behind me and slowly turned, my eyes locking on the teacher's expectant face.
Way to go Legna, you've made a fool of yourself... again. I heard a voice say in my head and frowned. My phone buzzed in my back pocket and I coughed to cover the sound. Phones were strictly forbidden in school and if you were caught with a phone, you'd get a week's detention and the teacher would take it until a parent/ gaurdian could come in to get it. The teacher's eyes narrowed on me and I smiled sheepishly.
"Sorry, what was the question?"
"I asked if you knew the answer to page three, question twenty- eight in the Hamlet homework you had last night."
"Right..." I looked down at my blank sheet and sighed. "Yeah, I don't know."
"Very well, Miss Summers." His beady gray eyes moved around the classroom. "Mr. Hayes! Can you help out Miss Summers and tell us the answer she failed to give?"
"Why of course, Mr. Smithe! I wouldn't want the class to suffer knowledge because someone didn't do their homework." Tyler Hayes smirked at me and I rolled my eyes. He continued to give the answer and I tuned him out, letting the other kids' laughs just roll off me.
I hated him. Ever since I moved here two weeks ago, he's been nothing but rude to me. It was understandable at first. I mean, my brother and I are strange wolves on his land, but shouldn't he have gotten over it? My brother said he had talked to him and sorted everything out. Tyler Hayes was the local Alpha of the werewolf pack and did nothing but tease me in school.
The bell rang and I gathered my stuff, walking out of the room. I ignored their jeers at me and kept my head high. It wasn't anything I hadn't heard before. About halfway down the hallway was when I smelt him and froze, letting people move in swarms around me. Tyler stood before me, jeering and I saw his mouth moving, but didn't hear what he said. Slowly I pulled out my phone, dialing my brother's number and took a quick look around.
There he was, standing against the exit door of the school, wearing a smirk. I growled softly under my breath and he grinned maliciously at me. I hit the call button on my phone and held it up to my ear, never taking my eyes off of him.
"Legna? What's wrong?"
"He's here."
"Shit- Already?"
I rolled my eyes and started backing away. Tyler was watching me with a funny expression but I ignored him. "No, I just called you to tell you to bring me back some marshmallows."
"Don't joke about this. Come home. Now."
I frowned at his Alpha voice, easily fighting the pull of my wolf to follow his orders. "Why can't I torch the bastard? I'm sick and tired of this Caleb."
"Don't go near him."
"But-"
A hand plucked the phone out of my hands and I turned to find my brother behind me, shoving my phone into his pocket. He sent a glare towards the vampire at the end of the hall. Suddenly the man was towering over me, before I was yanked back and my brother stood eye-to-eye with him. The vampire laughed and his eyes glinted in the dim lights of the school.
"Ah, Caleb, it's been too long." It said, taking in my brother slowly. "I remember when you were a little boy, running off with your sister."
"Leave her alone."
