"Calm down dear." Dr. HaeSik continues to fail at his attempt in hopes of silencing your sobs.
Your face flushes with embarrassment. Why were you embarrassed at this moment though? Was it because of how you were dragged into a corner? A place where you had never felt such vulnerability. Where you had no other choice but to pick the right answer. The one that destroyed everything that you had believed love to be. The values that you treasured were now to be disintegrated leaving you filled with a powerless stance.
Or was it because you were embarrassed that Park Jimin was your boyfriend. Embarrassed that he hadn't tried harder to protect you from this. An event that you had both anticipated since the very beginning. His innocent and joyful self had never even thought of how to prevent this from happening. Embarrassment for he had no idea you were here crying over how much you love him and he blindly knew nothing of it.
Nature allows only the fittest to survive. It unfairly kills off the weak and disposes it brutally at mother natures will. Thrown out, dead, cold, and unwanted, the remains of a hyenas prey lays motionless in a bed of grass. Vulnerable it seemed. Embarrassed it felt. No choice it had. In the end, the powerful and crazed hyenas survived, leaving only the carcass of its prey. And sure, the herd of antelopes could have helped. They could have chased the hyenas away, but mother nature has a set of rules that one must follow or chaos breaks open and no one can stop it: survival of the fittest, the most powerful, the crazed, the hungry.
Bang PDnim's eyes burned your skin as he, not even for a split second took his gaze off you.
"The hospital in Busan is a great place to continue your training (Y/N). We've prepared everything for you, so you don't have to worry. I know how much you value helping others and the people of Busan need a passionate doctor like you to change their lives. Don't think of this as a decision that will hold you back from your dreams, from your independence. Think of it as a decision that will open your eyes to success and adventure. That's why you came to Korea in the first place right?"
The courage of this man, to speak to you as if he had known you. He who had once welcomed you like family to a dinner with BTS was now no different than a political man consumed by power and money. Two large stacks of documents were taken out of a bag and set on the table before you.
"Before you are the documents we need filled out once you make your decision. To your left is the withdrawal of Park Jimin's contract with BigHit Entertainment and your contract with Seoul National University Hospital. To your right is a bright new beginning for you at the Inje University Busan Paik Hospital. Everything now a days requires documented agreements. Such a hassle you see."
A smile spreads across Mr. SiHyuk's face as he mentally applauses himself for the clever remark he had just made.
"It's time Dr. (L/N). You need to decide." Dr. Haesik hands you a pen and a tissue for you to wipe away your tears.
For some reason, the tears now stopped forcing itself out of your eyes. Every tremble had now reached to the core of your bones and the pain, torture, and embarrassment that you felt still circulated through each vein of your system, but the tears now stopped. Slowly raising your head, you wipe the shame you had felt from your face. The cotton sleeves of your shirt roughly rubbing your runny nose and teary face, pushing aside the worthless tissue.
Calmly, you take a stack of white papers filled with words that now seemed to just become blurs before you. Turning past the numerous pages, most would read in attempt to find mistakes. There was no use in you doing so. This whole trip was a mistake. Coming to Korea, training at a world class hospital, accepting Dr. MiGook as your resident, following her to ER duty, helping Jin, meeting Jimin; all was just a mistake. A mistake that you wished to erase from your memory.
As the pen's fine point glided across the bleached paper and its delicate ink smeared across the page, a dagger was pressed into your heart. A place that now forced itself to let go, though its attempt failed over and over again. When the signature was finished and the date had been written, there were no other words to say. Gradually you ascend from your seat and absentmindedly turn towards the door. A blank stare grew across your pale face and the room never felt so frigid. The men sat back in their seats with a sigh as they lean back in their cushioned chairs. A pair of eyes continued to glare at you as you take your first step towards the door. It seemed as though your decision had been right, but he was still not happy. He was not satisfied at the result. He was confused, taken aback, shocked at how solemn you were.
Every step was painful like a hundred nails had been drilled to the ground. It took all the energy you had spared to just reach the door. The doorknob burned the callused flesh on your palm from all the years of tiring work and labor to get where you are today. For now, you didn't feel the pain, the torment, the agony. For just this split moment, time stopped as you exited the conference room. Just for now, you felt nothing.
Jimin will now be able to be happy. He will get to be with the people he loves and that's all that matters. He will be able to see what love really is and how much it really changes someone. Hopefully your meeting was fate and you both were destined to be with each other. If not, you had chosen the wrong path, another mistake to put on your wall. The decision you made will now let you still love him, while allowing him to still love you. It was a win win and that's what you had thought. No matter the misfortune that might be ahead of you two, there was nothing worse than you destroying another's blood and tears to fulfill your enjoyment. Maybe he'll be thankful for what you did and embrace love. Perhaps he might hate you and destroy the love you hoped for him to receive. Love is a powerful poison for it can either comfort one or destroy one.

So how was this chapter? What did you decide in the end? Did you choose love or your careers?
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
What hair color do you prefer Jimin having? (I like him with brown/black the most. Whatever is closer to his natural hair color because I think the way his parents made him, the way he was born was the best way he could ever look!)
Thank you so much for reading and always supporting me even when you all don't know who I am or what I look like.
