Chapter 6: Battle Royal!

Authors Note: The picture in the media section is of Hei from Darker than Black, a pretty good anime if I may say so. Anyway, the cloak is the reward gained if you win the tournament. Just to give you and idea of what the stakes are, that thing is frigging beautiful.

Valkyries pov:
"You one hundred players have been chosen as the best players in SAO and have been invited to this place, to attend a battle royal!" a booming voice yells around the clearing where one hundred players are gathered. I am sitting in a tree at the edge of said clearing.

"A battle royal, for you fools who no not what it is, is a huge free for all battle where the last man/woman standing wins the prize! Said prize is this cloak from the anime "Darker than Black" The voice continues, he is hiding in the shadows so nobody can see him or his name tag.

God dang it this guy talks to much, I sigh to myself, looking up at the beautiful virtual sky today, this forest floor smells of fresh trees and it remind me of a time I went camping with my "friends"

-flashback- (about time this happened)

"Val, come back!" a voice whines as I run as fast as I can, running through the forest, away from my friends, who are chasing me like a hound after a sprinting pile of steak.

"No!" I yell back stubbornly, sticking my tongue out and turning into a dark forest. The fresh midnight air is cold against my bare arms but my jeans and tank top cover the rest, giving me a slight respite from the cold.

My friends had asked me to come camping with them in this dark forest in the middle of the night. I had no idea why but upon arrival, I instantly realised why. The group of boys had tricked me into being alone with them in a forest. You get what they were attempting to do. My only group of friends turn out to betray me and try to take my innocence, what away to erase my fragile trust issues.

"You never even cared about me you jerks!" I scream back angrily, already ahead of them and losing them swiftly, due to my athletic form and small stature I can swiftly weave my way through gaps by trees and hide in the smallest of places.

I blow on my hands to try heat them up to no avail. I had been running for hours and had already lost them, however this was at a price. That price was losing myself in an extremely cold environment at 2AM. Just as I am starting to drift off into a weary sleep, a large creature prowls towards me, making a menacing noise with its rough voice box. My eyes open wide when I spot a huge black wolf infront of me.

"Nice wolfy" I whimper nervously, shrinking back against the tree. The wolf looks straight into my eyes, I think I am going to die. As the wolf reaches me, however, he nuzzles his nose against my neck and curls up by my side, whimpering quietly. I stare in shock, before leaving down and let the wolf provide me with warmth.

End of flashback---

"let the battle commence!" the voice booms, causing everyone to sprint into the forest. I sigh as I stand up and follow them, in the virtual trees, pulling out my gunblade and using the scope to watch various fights take place.

"who to take first" I smile menacingly, taking a shot at Kirito's left leg, taking him out, causing me to smile deviously.

Hours pass and people get knocked out by eachother throughout the whole time. Three people decided to work together until everyone else is done, only to fight eachother in the end.

"only me and the three stooges remain" I sigh, readying my sword and walking into a clearing, followed closely by the team of three.

They try to sneak up on me but I dont give them the chance, turning around and looking them directly in the eyes, readying my sword in my own stance, straight in front and to the side an inch, easy to block and attack at the same time.

"Bring it on boys" I laugh, only to be charged at by them all at once, they fight like a well oiled machine, each attacker is defended only to swap out roles in between, preventing me from learning their attack pattern.

I block most of the blows but a few attacks break through my defense, virtual scars appearing on my arms, legs and face. One strike a little to high up my thigh. They smirk with glee at this causing me to get pissed.

"where the hell do you thin your looking, perverts" I grow, sick of these boys and their lude fantasies.

Their smirks grow, only succeeding in pissing me off more, my movements and reaction time increasing, my sword twirling around and blocking blow for blow, until I spot an opening, twisting my sword to thew side, moving my attackers sword to the left, allowing me a shot with my gun, hitting him in the side, causing him to fall in pain. His allies look worried but keep up their attack and defense, but its hopeless, without a third to confuse me more, their attacks become predictable and I shoot one in the leg and slash the other accross the back, finishing them both off, leaving all three with 3% health remaining.

"And we have a winner!" the voice booms once more, causing me to look up to the top of the cliff. "I have been watching you for awhile, girl, I have known from the beginning that you would cause me trouble. I will end your life here and now and assure my plans succeed!" the man laughs, giving an extremeley generic evil villain laugh.

I sweatdrop and stare up at the figure, taking my gunblade out once more and shooting up at him. "Hahahaha you missed" he gloats above me. I smile innocently and shrug, pointing behind him.

"Do you think somebody as smart as me will fall for tha-" he laughs, only to be cut off by a branch hitting his head and knocking him out. I claim my reward and equip the new cloak, loving the feeling of it blowing in the wind as I stand up and walk away, hand in pockets and leaving the unconscious man for the aincrad liberation army noobs. They can at least be good for this much right?

Sorry, I just had to build up the evil villain and defeat him so embarrasingly, its the only thing that lightens up my day, the embarassing defeats, anyway, tell me what you think with a comment guys thanks <3
