Life's A Game

After I caused all the pain to Taurtis, I honestly didn't feel any better. I wanted to go make up, but I knew he wouldn't. I sighed and sat down on the hotel bed, not sure of what to do anymore. I decided to go out and get something to eat, after all that fighting but stomach was practically shriveling up. I walked over to the mirror above the dresser and cleaned up my makeup. I grabbed my bag and ended up at a small restaurant down the street. I ordered a sandwich and fries, not craving much. The male waiter walked over to me, giving me my food. I didn't really notice him until he spoke up.
"You okay?" I snapped my attention to him, and nodded, stirring my water with the straw. "Hm.. Well if you need someone to talk to, here's my number." I rolled my eyes and looked at the boy. Brown hair and dark eyes, so dark you couldn't see the color.
"Look, I'm not looking for a relationship right now, so you can take your number back." I said.
"Please just take it, in case." His face wore a mask of worry, before it faded into a small smile as he walked away. I grabbed the small piece of paper, shoving it into my back pocket.

"Hope things get better." He said, taking my half-empty plate.
"Thanks, uh," I paused.
"Dom." He interjected.
"Yeah, thanks Dom, but things don't get better, they just get less sucky." I scoffed, causing him to crack a grin. I waved and walked out into the cool air. It was almost sundown, but still warm enough to be without a jacket. As I headed back to the hotel room, the name Dom kept creeping up on me. It sounds.. Familiar...

I took a quick shower and removed my makeup before changing my clothes and going to bed. I didn't bother to even enter Dom's number into my phone. I didn't want to talk, I just wanted to be miserable. It feels good to sulk for a while, that is, until the pain gets to be unbearable. I closed my eyes and let my body drift away.

Taurtis's POV

I laid in my bed back home. It felt good to be released from the hospital, but I felt, different. Sleeping, without y/n, was horrible.  Her small figure, curled up on my lap made the problems I had disappear. I feel horrible for yelling at her, making her heart break, and that's why she dumped me. I wanted to get back together, but she wouldn't take me back so soon. Luckily, if I waited, I'd have time to devise a plan to get her back. Love was going to have to wait, and so was I.

Y/n POV
~One Week After Fight~

It's been a week since the fight with Taurtis. Since then, Dom and I have become closer. We've grown to become friends, and we've hung out. But, I felt like I knew him from somewhere.. One day when we hung out, things turned out to be crazier than planned.

We had settled down on a blanket in the grass. I smiled as we unpacked the picnic. Dom and I shared the peaceful day in the park, and after we are we decided to relax and watch the animals run around their little corners. I contemplated several things but that's when something clicked. Dom was the guy who was rude to Taurtis! I paused and thought about it, wondering if I should ask Dom about it.
"Dom, why were you so rude to Taurtis?" I asked, hoping to not strike a nerve.
"Tch, the past is the past y/n.." He growled. I didn't want to make him angry but I was curious.
"Tell me.." I prodded, sliding closer to him.
"Look, my dad hates me, my mom left us. Family issues okay?" He sighed, obviously exasperated.

"I know how it feels.." I mumbled, causing him to practically choke on his own spit. His eyes were the size of the moon, piercing me.
"W-What?" He spluttered.
"My dad left me because he didn't want me to know about his past self, though I knew already. So my mom started drinking, and hurting me, so eventually I left her and now I live alone." I breathed out, feeling a weight being lifted from me. He moved in towards me and place his hand on mine.
"Life's a game, throwing obstacles at you to test you. You can't left life win y/n, you have to beat it at its own game." He smiled.
"Well when life hands me lemons I make oranges so I confuse the hell outta life." I chortled.

The air was growing cool, the critters had snuggled into bed. I sighed contently. His warm hand overlapped mine in a comforting way. We watched as lightning bugs danced around the big oak we were under. We started to talk about the little bugs and how they looked like stars. I laughed softly and glanced over at Dom. He leaned in, his eyes closed. I swallowed hard, unsure of what to do. My brain made the ultimate choice within 5 seconds.

I kissed Dom.
