(Mosspaw ^^^^)
Chapter One
Skypaw turned her attention back to her sister and mentor. They had mostly calmed down and were carrying her body on their backs, walking back to camp.
As soon as they arrived, a silence fell upon the clan. It was broken by a loud wail.
"NO! MY KIT!" It was her mother, Mapleleaf. She had rushed foward to where Brightsun and Mosspaw had laid Skypaw's body.
"SKYPAW!" It was her brother's yelp that had come next. He came foward to stand beside his mother.
Mosspaw, Brightsun, Mapleleaf, Rockpaw and Mothpaw (her best friend) stood vigil for her. She looked away now, she didn't want to see more.
Where was she? Skypaw knew that she had died. She was most likely in StarClan now, but why was she all alone?
"Because you had to remember." Skypaw whipped around. There was a kind looking brown tabby shecat with startling green eyes.
"Who are you?" Skypaw said suspiciously.
"I, am Mintstar." The shecat said. "I was once leader of your DawnClan."
"Uh so I am in StarClan?" Skypaw asked.
"Yes. When a cat comes to StarClan, they do not remember much. So us StarClan cats leave them to regain their memories. When they do remember, they choose one cat that may be the most comfortable for the cat to be around - so basically a family member, a cat from the same clan, stuff like that - to introduce them to StarClan. If a cat somehow has trouble remembering, we help." Mintstar explained. "They thought because me being from the same clan would make you feel safe."
"Oh... okay." Skypaw looked around. "But where is everyone?"
"Oh they should reappear in three... two... one.." Skypaw jumped as hundreds of cats suddenly popped out of nowhere, they were talking, mingling about and just, relaxing.
"Woah..." Skypaw said amazed. StarClan was beautiful.
"Make yourself at home!" Mintstar said with a smile.
"Thanks but I have a question," Skypaw returned the smile. "Why can I see everyone back at home when I look over the edge?"
"Oh, that's because it's your life. Not everyone sees what you see. Cats see their homes, where they grew up, where they had ived until they... you know. Came up here." Mintstar said.
"What do you see when you look down?" Skypaw asked.
"Oh, I see the same you do," Mintstar answered. "DawnClan mourning over you. Since DawnClan was my home, I see it too."
"Oh. Makes sense." Skypaw grinned. "But..."
"But what?" Mintstar asked sweetly.
"But what about my training? I never got to become a warrior!" Skypaw said sadly.
"Oh, well some apprentices get choices. Some want to stay as an apprentice, and some want to train and become a warrior. You have that choice." Mintstar explained.
"Oh, well then can I train more?" Skypaw asked excited.
"Of course! Let's just assign a new mentor for you..." Mintstar thought for a moment. "How about... Pebblestone?"
"Who's that?" Skypaw cocked her head.
"I'll show you. PEBBLESTONE!" Mintstar yelled.
"What?" A mottled, pretty gray shecat came over.
"Would you mind mentoring Skypaw here?"
Pebblestone looked over at me. "Sure! She's the new cat, right?"
"Yes. Show her around and introduce her to some cats, please." Mintstar asked and padded away.
"Sooo... you're new here..." Pebblestone said, trying to make some conversation.
"Yeah."
"Uhhh so... how'd you... get up here?" She asked awkwardly.
"I was mauled by a fox..."
"Oh."
"So, StarClan... what do you do here?" Skypaw looked around at the cats walking about.
"Uh, we hunt, talk, maybe train and just relax." Pebblestone shrugged.
"That's all?" Skypaw thought that sounded boring.
"Don't worry, it's a lot more fun than you think." Pebblestone reassured her.
"I'll take your word for it." Skypaw said.
"Now c'mon! I'll show you around." Pebblestone started to trot away to a group of cats.
"Fine."
Pebblestone first introduced her to a golden tabby tom. "This is Lionpelt."
Then a ginger shecat. "This is Grasspaw. She'll be training as an apprentice."
Then a white tom. "Rabbitleap."
Reddish brown shecat. "Dawneyes."
Brown tom that resembled a badger. "Badgerpaw. He'll be training with you too."
"And that's all the cats I'm gonna introduce to you." Pebblestone said.
"Okay, I'm tired anyway." Skypaw shrugged. "Where do you guys sleep around here?"
"Oh anywhere I guess. But you can sleep in those dens if you'd like." Pebblestone gestured towards the dens in a quiet corner.
"Thanks." Skypaw padded to one of the dens, surprised to find it empty.
'I guess everyone likes to sleep outside..." Skypaw thought as she curled up in a soft moss nest.
"Oh well, their loss." Skypaw murmured to herself.
There was only one last thought before sleep overtook her.
'I can't believe StarClan cats can sleep...'
