Chapter Two

Skypaw woke to birds chirping and chattering. Skypaw was used to having to wake up early so she could train.

She got up and padded out. Nothing seemed to have changed...

Skypaw spotted Pebblestone and trotted over. "Hey!"

"Oh, hi Skypaw!" Pebblestone was eating a plump mouse.

"How is the mouse so... fat." Skypaw asked, curious. "It's like leafbare."

"Oh didn't you know, in StarClan the prey is always plentiful and plump." Pebblestone said, took another bite and nudged the rest over to Skypaw. "Why don't you try?"

"Um okay." Skypaw took a bite. "Wow this is amazing!"

Pebblestone laughed. "Yeah, I guess. If you're here for a while the amazingness of the taste just fades away."

"Oh, that's too bad." Skypaw said, her voice muffled because of the mouse she was basically tearing apart.

"You know that the mouse is already dead, right?" Pebblestone teased.

"Yes. But I'm hungry."

"And you have to rip it to pieces to eat it?"

"...... maybe......"

Pebblestone started laughing. "Ha! Ahem, so anyway, you wanna go battle training or hunting?"

"Battle training!" Skypaw exclaimed. "My mentor and I barely got to do it before I... ya know..."

"Well stop 'eating' that mouse and let's go!"

-------------------------

"No Badgerpaw! Do it like this!" When Skypaw and Pebblestone has arrived at the clearing, Badgerpaw and his mentor were already there.

"Hello Wolfclaw!" Pebblestone said cheerily.

"Hi." Wolfclaw said, briefly turning his attention to Pebblestone then back to Badgerpaw. "Do it quicker!"

"Should Skypaw and Badgerpaw train together?" Pebblestone asked Wolfclaw.

"Sure." Wolfclaw said. "Badgerpaw, it's time to test your skills!"

"Wait but I never got to train!" Skypaw yelped.

"Don't worry, you'll do fine." Pebblestone reassured her.

Badgerpaw turned to face Skypaw. Their mentors were watching from the sidelines.

"Don't forget to keep your claws sheathed!" Was their final word of advice. "Ready, set, GO!"

Badgerpaw lunged towards Skypaw, his eyes trained at her paws. Skypaw readied herself to jump.

But instead of going for her paws, Badgerpaw had aimed for her shoulders.

Skypaw tumbled down, Badgerpaw pinning her in place. She tried struggling, but his grip held tight.

She tried kicking up with her hind legs, but nothing happened.

She remembered the small lesson Brightsun had done on battle training.

Skypaw, slumped her shoulders and tried to look downcast and defeated. Sure enough, Badgerpaw's grip loosened. He had thought she had given up.

Skypaw kicked with her hind legs again, and Badgerpaw was thrown off her. She leapt foward, trying to pin him in place like he had down to her.

But her eyes gave away where she was aiming. Badgerpaw dropped to the floor, and Skypaw missed him. She turned back around and charged at him again, trying not to make the same mistake.

Badgerpaw dodged her attack, she was left clawing at air. He tackled her, and they rolled around, clawing and biting at each other.

Skypaw threw Badgerpaw off again, and while he was unfocused pinned him down.

Badgerpaw struggled and clawed at her, and Skypaw's grip loosened when Badgerpaw smacked her front leg, making it wobble a bit.

Badgerpaw threw her off and pinned her down again, but Skypaw bit his paw and was freed.

Skypaw rushed at him, her eyes trained at his head. Badgerpaw tried to step out of the way but Skypaw raked his paw down his side as she ran past.

Badgerpaw didn't dodge fast enough and fell on his side.

Skypaw pinned him down and Pebblestone called out, "Okay! That's enough!"

Skypaw got off of Badgerpaw and he started to glare at her. What was his problem?

"Great job Skypaw! I loved your technique where you faked Badgerpaw out!" Pebblestone praised.

Skypaw blushed. "It was nothing... it was from the small lesson Brightsun had done with me..."

"I can't believe that you were defeated by a newbie!" Wolfclaw hissed quietly to Badgerpaw, but Skypaw heard.

"It wasn't my fault!" Badgerpaw glared at his mentor.

"And I can't believe that you fell for her acting!"

"I've only had like four lessons!"

"She's only had one small one you mousebrain!" Wolfclaw cuffed Badgerpaw around the head.

"Well she had a good mentor I guess!" Badgerpaw then muttered, "Unlike you..."

Wolfclaw didn't seem to hear. "Fine. But you'll have to work twice as hard! You'll be sparring against me after a few more lessons!"

"Fine!" Then they continued to train, but Wolfclaw seemed to have more ferocity this time.

"Let's go now, Skypaw..." Pebblestone said and led her away.

"That was a great lesson, Pebblestone!" Skypaw said cheerily. "I still can't believe that I won!"

"But you did!" Pebblestone laughed. "Aren't you tired?"

"Nope!" Skypaw said, hopping around the starry Starclan camp. "I'm hopped up on adrenaline!"

Pebblestone laughed again. "Well go use up that energy somewhere!"

"Alright! If you need me I'll be watching the DawnClan camp and eating!" Skypaw grinned and hopped away to the huge prey pile, grabbed a thrush and went over to the edge.

She watched her family internally grive over her but plaster on a smile for the clan.

They had already buried her body, and a new star had appeared in Silverpelt, for her.

Skypaw finished the thrush and just laid there, watching.

Half of Skypaw wished she could share StarClan's amazingness with her family, but she knew that that would mean her family would have to pass away.

Half of Skypaw wanted to be back at Dawnclan, laughing and chatting with her siblings.

She felt as if she were tearing in two.

'Ugh, I miss everyone..."
