Chapter Four

Last Time:

"Of course no one knows what happens when you die. Cause no one came back." Badgerpaw continued, stepping closer to Skypaw. "Cats suspected their mortal bodies and souls just disintegrate. They don't get another life. Cause sometimes, StarClan cats get second chances. They get reborn into a new life, with absolutely no memory of what happened in their first, until they get up here again."

"Only cats that died purely accidentally, like they didn't know some plant was a poisonous plant, or cats that die of old age that have done good." Badgerpaw was still talking in the weird voice.

"Uh why are you telling me this?" Skypaw said.

"Because, I want you to know what could happen when you die for the second time." Badgerpaw's face twisted into a grotesque smile. "I don't like you, Skypaw. Let me tell you that. Or should I call you... Cloudwing?"

----------------------

Skypaw squinted in confusion. "What?"

"Don't you recognize me, Cloudwing?! It's me, Treefall! Isn't it ironic I died because of a tree falling?" Badgerpaw laughed maniacally.

"Who?" Skypaw cocked her head.

"So you don't remember..." Badgerpaw chuckled. "I guess you're too mousebrained!"

"H-hey!" Skypaw hissed defensively.

"Look, 'Skypaw'. This is your fourth time being reborn. Each life had a different variation of you, and somehow each time you have managed to get the peaceful death and get reborn." Badgerpaw hissed. "I also always got rebirth, this is my fourth timeline too, but it was because of stupid mistakes other cats have made. First life, accidentally pushed onto thunderpath. Second life, a cat fed me death berries. Last life, my third, a tree fell on me."

"Uh why would I care about this?" Skypaw growled, trying to look intimidating.

"Because, Skypaw, I'm sick and tired of you getting that rebirth every time!" Badgerpaw hissed. "And how do I know this? We're always in the same clan each time we're reborn. I have to experience pain every time I come up here! You always die peacefully!"

"And I'm gonna change that." Badgerpaw stepped closer to Skypaw.

"What do you mean-" Skypaw's back leg touched empty air when she took a small step back. Badgerpaw had brought her into a trap, she was on the edge of the cliff.

"There's no way you can escape this, Cloudwing, Mothsky, Brightpelt, or Skypaw. Whoever you are. This is your last and final timeline, Skypaw!" Badgerpaw took another step foward.

Skypaw's back legs were teetering on the edge, she was doing everything in her power to not fall off.

It was like her nerves were also balanced on a ledge. She was aware of her heart beating out of her chest, Badgerpaw's maniac look and the very, very long drop to the bottom.

Skypaw's eyes shot everywhere, searching for a way out.

"You can't worm your way out of your destiny~" Badgerpaw said in a singsong voice.

Skypaw frantically swung her head from side to side. There had to be a way...

Skypaw had an idea. It was risky, but it might work.

"Aw, c'mon! Just give up already."

"I'm not giving up just yet." Skypaw lunged at Badgerpaw.

Badgerpaw shrieked, but tumbled down, dangerously close to the edge. Skypaw hissed at him.
