(Vipertooth ^^^^)
Chapter Nine
Skypaw growled. She was watching Logpaw and Sunnypaw. They seemed to get more attached everyday.
But Skypaw knew that Logpaw didn't really "love" Sunnypaw. Skypaw had seen Logpaw flirt behind Sunnypaw's back with Cloudpaw.
And they were both falling for his stupid stupid act!
And, he had tried to hit on her too! But she had just ignored whatever feelings Silverpaw had for this jerk, scoffed, and stalked away.
Logpaw had stared at her weird, like he couldn't believe he got rejected, but then shrugged and padded away to flirt with Sunnypaw.
"Every cat old enough to catch their own prey gather under the high rock for a clan meeting!" Lakestar yowled.
Skypaw sighed and rushed over to sit under the high rock.
"Today, we gift LakeClan with three new warriors!" Lakestar said, and the clan cheered. "Logpaw, Sunnypaw, Cloudpaw, get up here."
Logpaw got up and climbed up onto the high rock his head held high with pride. Sunnypaw followed in a more dignified way. Cloudpaw went up with her head ducked.
"Falconclaw, is Logpaw ready?"
A tawny tom nodded. "Ready as he'll ever be."
"Then I, Lakestar name you Logfur! LakeClan honors your bravery and honor." Logfur licked Lakestar's shoulder.
"Sorrelfoot, is Sunnypaw ready?"
"She was born ready." A light brown shecat grinned.
"Then I, Lakestar name you Sunnybreeze! LakeClan honors your kindness and mercy." Sunnybreeze dipped her head and licked Lakestar's shoulder.
"Riverbrook, is Cloudpaw ready?"
"Of course she is."
"Then I, Lakestar name you Cloudtuft. LakeClan honors your honesty and respect." Cloudtuft's eyes shined with a bit of pride and she licked Lakestar's shoulder.
"You three will sit vigil after the gathering." Lakestar dipped her head and jumped off the high rock.
"LOGFUR! SUNNYBREEZE! CLOUDTUFT! LOGFUR! SUNNYBREEZE! CLOUDTUFT!" The clan chanted.
The three newly made warriors jumped down and everyone gathered around them to congratulate them.
As soon as everyone was gone, Cloudtuft turned to Logfur. "Hey, Logfur? Umm, you know how we've been hanging out a lot now? Well, um... do... do you want to be my mate?"
"Well, ummmm-"
"Wait wait wait," Sunnybreeze interrupted. "He, likes me. Right Logfur?"
"Well I uh-"
"B-but he said that h-he likes me..." Cloudtuft squeaked.
"Well, he's gonna be my mate. Right?" Sunnybreeze leaned against Logfur.
"I-i..." Cloudtuft's eyes filled with tears. "Hate you!"
She ran away from Logfur.
Skypaw snickered and snuck away. Logpaw had gotten what he deserved. That foxhearted, mousebrained fish!
Skypaw sighed, happy with her day and decided to go hunt.
She managed to get a mouse, a thrush, two squirrels and a dove. Skypaw went back to camp and dropped the prey on the prey pile.
Lakestar was announcing the cats that would go to the gathering. "-Logfur, Cloudtuft, Skypaw, Beepaw and Wingpaw."
Skypaw was going to a gathering!
"Eat, and we'll leave for the gathering." Lakestar jumped down and grabbed a thrush for herself.
Skypaw took a dove that she had caught from the prey pile and took a bite out of it.
Soon it was time to leave. Lakestar gathered up the cats to go and they left.
-------------------------------------------
Skypaw laid down in her nest with a sigh. The gathering had been long, with Meadowstar being challenged by Redstar, then Lakestar stood up for her and yeah.
She had had a long, long day. She needed a rest.
Skypaw closed her eyes and soon, she was dreaming.
-------------------------------------------
Skypaw woke up at the crack of dawn. She yawned widely and stretched.
Skypaw padded out. No one else except Patchleaf seemed to be awake.
She shrugged, and decided to go hunting again. She goes hunting, a lot.
It just keeps her mind off things.
Skypaw padded into the forest and breathed in the scent of the trees and flowers. It was a calming scent.
She crouched and sniffed, trying to catch a prey's scent. But instead, she got whiff of a cat's scent. A rogue's.
She followed it, to the edge of their territory, where there was a river.
A black tom with yellowish amber eyes was drinking at the edge of it.
Skypaw growled deep in her throat and the tom's ears perked up, though he kept drinking.
They stayed their for a while, Skypaw hiding in a bush and the tom lapping at the water.
Once he was done, he sighed and sat down. Then he meowed loudly,"Are you just gonna stand their or make yourself seen? The silence is getting unbearable."
Skypaw was miffed, but she stepped out. The tom looked up and seemed to be sizing her up.
"Mmm. Apprentice? Almost warrior age? And," The tom Mm sniffed at the air. "You're from LakeClan."
Skypaw was impressed. "Nice. How'd you do that?"
"Well, you don't look old enough to be a warrior, but you're not a new apprentice. Also, you're in LakeClan territory."
Skypaw blushed for not remembering that. "Right. Anyway, what are you doing on LakeClan territory?"
"Mmm. Just checkin it out." The tom shrugged. "Also, the name's Vipertooth."
"Sk- Silverpaw." Skypaw nodded. "Can you please leave? You're sorta trespassing."
"Alright, alright." Vipertooth held up his front paws in surrender. "I just need to take care of some, business."
He stepped closer.
"Okay?" For some reason this reminded her of Badgerpaw. Deja vu~!
Then, as fast as a viper striking (oh the irony), he grabbed Skypaw and threw her into the strong currents of the river.
Skypaw yelped and tried to swim towards land, but her swimming wasn't good and the currents were too strong.
Before long, her vision was turning fuzzy and she was all losing consciousness.
And she went back to StarClan.
