Chapter 8B:
The Debate of Arvendana

Toval Laboratory
Youngwood City
Arlon
Afternoon

"Pardon me, Abigail," I replied. "You have to understand our kingdom is in anarchy, and I must restore peace, rather than fighting off the goblins in a desperate attempt of defending the land at all costs."

"Have it your way Arlon," said Abigail. "I'm going to protect my father by myself and fight in Wartha, be the storm mage there or not!"

Terrible choice, I assure. Abigail dares risk her life for her father, and I took no action. I have to just put this away from my mind, and bring back the fallen economy of Ethaendra. The situation may get better in the future.

"I apologize," I said. "But I have my choices. I'm so sorry Abigail, if this didn't go the way you wished."

She snobs me and goes back inside her laboratory.

No turning back now. I summoned a storm cloud, and set my way to Arvendana. A battle of words is on the way.

An hour later...

I soared above the city. It's like has already been attacked due to the amount of mess scattering around the streets, and the houses with broken windows and torn down roofs. The palace is heavily defended by paladins, this is to prevent anyone from bashing in.

I cannot find an entrance, and I landed in front of the guards. Their weapons and spells were aimed at me by instant.

"State thy business," threatened the guard.

"You should have known me by now," I replied. "Do you not recognize this majestic weapon?"

I sparked the lightning rod

"Threatening us aye?" said another guard angrily. "We'll show you who's the threat!"

"No wait!" I claimed. "I- I just want to have a word with the royal council!"

"You want to slay them!" said the wizard. "Attack!"

They began charging at me as I slowly stepped back. Suddenly, a shout interupted their assault.

"HALT!" said King Harry as he made appearance in the balcony. "That lad with the sparking rod is Ethaendra's savior. Let him in."

The guards stepped back, feeling ashamed of their rogue action

"We heavily apologize for that," said the guard. "Please, let us escort thee to our royal council!"

I have been escorted. As the fancy door opened, I had a glimpse of the Arvendanan Royal Palace. This dumbfounding masterpiece of architecture feels like the Youngwood Library, only differing in size.

The Royal Council

I was accompanied as far to the council meeting room. I entered and met the royal council for the first time ever, along with King Harry II, who was fancying his cloak and diamond crown. He was walking around seemingly stressed out from all these tragic events.

"Good afternoon your majesty," I greeted them. "If I may introduce myself, I am Arlon, the destined one who acquired the fabled weapon, the Lightning Rod."
