A Kavi Selection

Chapter 2

(It's going to be in Kirstie's POV unless I say differently)

Kirstie POV

The next morning I wake up at sunrise and find Tori is still asleep, so I decide to look around the castle grounds. I change into a simply skirt and shirt the Mitch left here for me, then pull my long hair back. My hair comes about to my waist, I'll have to ask him about cutting it later. Once I am dressed I quietly walk out of my room and walk down stairs. Before I make it out the door and painting catches my eye, the painting is of Prince Avi on the throne. As I study the  painting all I see is a kind wise ruler, the same Prince I meet yesterday. While looking at the picture I hear someone walk up behind me. Turning around I find Prince Avi standing behind me. 

"I'm sorry your highness. Did I wake you?" He shakes his head. 

"No I was awake already, and I told you just call me Avi. It's fine." I nod and look back at the picture. 

"It's like there is a story to be told." I say running my fingers across the picture. "A story of a wise powerful king, that is kind to his subjects." I turn around and see Pri- I mean Avi, looking straight at me. 

"That's the king I want to be a kind and wise ruler. One who is able to understand and help his subjects through their hard times." He walks close to me and places a hand on my shoulder. "What are you doing awake so early?" 

"Forces of habit. At home we had to be up by sunset so we could try and find some form of work." "Your family is really poor isn't it." "Yeah. I mean most of my village is but we are some of the more un-lucky ones I guess. " He nods. 

"Well Kirstie I have one question for you. Would you care to accompany me on a walk through the castles gardens." Ha asks with a smile. 

"I would love too." We make our way our way outside and Avi leads me through the bushes to a small cliff just out of sight from the pathway. In front of me is the prettiest sun rise I have ever seen. "Wow." Is all I can say. Avi smile and directs me to a bench. 

"Not many people know about this place. I like to think of this as my special go to place." I look over at him. 

"Then why did you share it with me?" I ask confused. 

"Because Ms. Maldonado you seem like some one who could use a quiet place." I smile. 

"Thank you." We sit there for awhile and I end up laying my head on his shoulder. After about an hour or so I have to go back inside."I need to go get ready. Thank you for showing me this place. The view is absolutely breath taking." 

"It sure is." He says in a tone I can't recognize. Before I can question him he clears His throat. "And it was no problem. I had a great time." He stands up and kisses my cheek. "See you at breakfast." I blush and nod before quickly running  inside.

I run up to my room and see Scott and Mitch standing there with worried faces. "Where were you Missy?" Mitch asks as soon as I enter the room. 

 "Sorry I went for a walk around the castle and lost track of time." 

 "Ok, it's fine. We still have time to get you ready for breakfast.i t should't take s long. Scott is going to be working with you while I help Tori get ready this morning." Mitch explains before leading Tori to His prep room. 

"Any request?" Scott asks ask take a seat.. I shake my head.

 "Not really, as long as I can keep my necklace on." I tell him placing my hand on the necklace. Since I got it last night I haven't taken it off, I spent most of the night laying in bed wondering who gave it to me. 

"Of course." He says smile and getting to work.

A little while later I feel Scott pull back. 

"Done." I open my eyes and am once again stunned. My hair is left down and straightened and my make up is simple with red lipstick. I still have on the same skirt and shirt, I will change after breakfast.

 "Okay, just one more thing." He walks over to the closet and comes back with some flat shoes. "These shouldn't hurt your feet and will be easier to walk in." I strap them one and stand. 

"They're perfect. Thank you Scott." He smiles and I walk down to the dinning room. This time I am actually the first one here. I find my name again and see there is a note. I quickly open it and see it is from the same person as my necklace.

I smile and fold the letter before slipping it into my dress. Just then all the girls come in along with Tori. She walks over to my and hands me an envelope before walking over to her seat. I look at the envelope and it says 'Open me'. I do ask it says and inside I find a wad of cash and a note.
'Hope you can put this to very good use.' I feel my eyes water but I don't care. Just then I hear some one clear their throat, I look up and see the royal looking at me. I quickly stand. 

"I'm so sorry. Please forgive me." I say while wiping tears away. Queen Shelley smiles at me and nods. We all sit down and I put the money and everything under my seat.

After breakfast

I run up to my room and put the money in a drawer to stay hidden, until I can get it to my family. Once it is in a drawer I walk over to my bed and see a note from the King and Queen.
'

This is your first task for the Selection. Every girl plays tea party growing up, but can you survive a real royal tea party? Please be on the back balcony in 2 hours for your task.'

I nod and fold the piece of paper back up, before heading over to Scott's prep room. I walk in and see him waiting for me with a beautiful red dress. I go put it on and come back. He sets me down in a chair then starts to freshen up my make up. Only this time he adds what he calls eye liner. Once my make up is re-done he curls my hair and puts the head band I had on yesterday on me. 

"Done." He says. I thank him with a hug and head to the balcony downstairs. I walk outside and see it is set up with beautiful flowers every where. I look to my left and I see Tori talking with Princess Esther. I walk over to them and they smile. 

"Good afternoon, Princess Esther." I say with a curtsy.

"Hello Kirstie. How are you liking it here?" "It's amazing. I've never been somewhere so beautiful." I tell her while looking around. Just then Ashlynn and her friends walk behind me and I hear her whisper 'suck up'. I roll my eyes and see Esther does also. 

"I don't get why they act like that. Your a great girl." I blush. 

"Thank you Princess."

 "Please just Esther." I nod and hear the Queen call us all. "Alright ladies this is your first task and for one of you, your last. Good luck."
