"Darry, lay off." I grumbled as Darry continued to yell at Pony for who knows what reason. "Pony does his best. Just leave him alone."
"When I want advice about my kid brother from my kid sister, I'll ask." Darry said angrily but he left Pony alone. Pony stormed off into his room and I followed him.
"Oh, Pony. You know Darry is just doing what he thinks is best for you. He loves you." I said as I crawled onto the bed with my twin brother.
"No he doesn't. He just likes to holler at me. I'm just another mouth to feed to him." Pony grumbled furiously wiping away stray tears that had fallen down his soft cheeks.
"That's not true Ponyboy. He's just lookin out for you. He just wants you to do well." I sighed.
"Okay." Pony muttered clearly wanting to change the subject.
"Hey." Soda said walking into the room. "Dally's here. Wants to know if you guys wanna go to a movie. I made plans with Steve and the girls so we can't go."
"You wanna go Pony?" I asked hoping he'd say yes.
"Yeah sure." He mumbled. I knew he just wanted to get out of the house and away from Darry. It wasn't a school night after all so Darry wouldn't mind us going out.
I was a dropout anyway, just like Soda. I was never good with school. I was slow and it took me a while to understand things. I was the same as Soda that way.
Ponyboy was different. He got all A's. Mainly because Darry pushed him so much to do homework but Pony was smart either way.
We walked downstairs and saw Darry and Dally chatting away.
"See yeah." I waved at him and was about to walk out the door.
"Wait a minute." Darry said sternly. "Where on earth do you think you're going?"
"To the movie with Pony and Dally." I stated crossing my arms over my chest.
"The hell you are!" Darry shouted. I hated it when he would shout at me. I couldn't help but tear up. "Oh come on. Don't be like that." Darry groaned.
"I'm going." I stated walking out the door wiping away a tear that had fallen.
I heard Ponyboy and Dally follow me. I stared at the ground as I walked and screamed when Johnnys feet appeared in front of me.
"Just in time Johnnycake." Ponyboy said as I slowed my heartbeat and I could feel my cheeks become hot. "We were just going to a movie. You comin'?"
"Yeah." Johnny said simply. I wanted to just break down than and there. Why did Johnny have to come? Damn you Ponyboy.
As we walked to drive-in, we smoked our cigarettes and talked about unimportant things.
We crawled under the hole in the fence to get into the movie. We walked over and sat in chairs behind a red head and a brunette. They were Soc girls no doubt and I wanted to throw up at the sight of them. Pretty girls who thought they were better than everyone else. Spoiled brats.
I laughed as Dally started to tease the red head. She shot back remarks at him but he ignored her.
"I'm gonna go get some cokes." Dally said as he stood up to leave. He had sat in the middle of me and Johnny and Pony sat next to Johnny so instead of sitting alone I took Dally's seat. I didn't even look at Johnny.
"You guys going to start on us too?" The red head asked us furiously.
"No." Pony said in a little bit of shock but he played it cool.
"Good. You don't look the type anyway." She said turning back around. At that moment Darry came back and handed the two girls some Coke. The brunette took it happily while the red head threw it in Dally's face when he sat next to her.
Dally was about to say something when Johnny stepped in. "Leave the girls alone Dally."
"What'd you say?" He asked angrily turning to him.
"You heard me." Johnny said. I knew he was scared to death but he didn't back down. I was shocked that Johnny would speak to Dally like that. Everyone knew better than to tell Dally what to do.
"I'm outta here." Darry muttered as he stood up flipping a chair over and he left.
"Why don't you boys come sit with us? You can protect us." The red head giggled. Thanks for asking me to sit with you, bitch.
"Come on Ally." Pony said climbing over the seats.
"I wasn't invited." I sneered at the red head.
"I am so sorry." The red head said. It didn't seem like she was faking. "I didn't mean to be so rude. Come sit with us. You were so quiet I hardly noticed you."
I climbed over the seat and sat next to Johnny. I didn't reply to the red head, I just watched the movie.
"-but my friends call me Cherry cause of my hair." I heard the red head say. I had stopped watching the boring movie and started to pay attention to the others conversation.
"And I'm Marcia." Said the brunette.
"I'm Ponyboy, that's Johnny and my sister Ally."
"Nice to meet you guys. So what are nice people like you doing with trash like that other guy?" Cherry asked. I wanted to slap her. Dally ain't trash. Sure he's hot headed and selfish and rude and violent, but he ain't trash.
"Oh, Dally ain't trash. He's a good guy. He wouldn't have treated you like that if he had known you." Johnny said. This boy is on a roll today. He hardly ever speaks. We're lucky to get two words out of him.
"I don't want him to know me." Cherry grumbled.
I was about to say something but was interrupted. "Okay you filthy greasers, I'm gonna teach you a lesson."
"Two-bit you ass." I squealed. He had put his hand on Johnnys shoulder and I was scared to death. Johnny looked white as a ghost but he tried to play it off cool.
"Oh, I'm sorry Johnny. I forgot." Two-bit said roughing up his hair and sitting next to me. Okay, maybe I had a little crush on Two-Bit Matthews but it would never happen.
"Who are they boys? Your great aunts?" Two-Bit asked with a grin.
"Great Grandmothers twice removed." Marcia said in a sassy tone.
I sighed and started to ignore them and focus on the movie. It got hard with Two-Bit sitting right next to me so I just stalked off and headed towards home.
As the wind started to pick up I started to get cold. I had forgotten my jacket at home too. I lit up a weed and sighed rubbing my arms in attempt to warm them up.
Suddenly the loud roar of an engine could be heard behind me. I turned around to see a red mustang slowly driving behind me. Well shit.
