Stef and Lena sat in the kitchen, cooking breakfast and discussing upcoming family events when there was a knock at the door. “I swear if it’s the Riveras,” Stef joked, getting a glare from Lena. “I’m kidding.”

“Mhmm,” Lena laughed, getting up to go open the door. She was surprised to see Tayla standing there with her books for school. “Oh um hi Tayla. I didn’t know you and Brandon were back together?”

“Yeah he wanted to walk to school with me today,” she smiled politely.

“Oh, okay, he’s upstairs in his room still.” Lena eyed Tayla as she rushed up the stairs, Stef walking up behind Lena after seeing Tayla’s fiery hair woosh up the stairs.

                “Why is she here?”

“They’re back together apparently,” Lena replied, both of them exchanging a glance. Mariana entered the room shortly after, putting their conversation to an end.

“Hey um, did Callie go somewhere? She’s not in our room or the bathroom,” she said, confused. Stef froze, realizing that she must still in Brandon’s room.

“ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” Tayla screamed from the second floor.

“Right on cue,” Stef laughed and Lena flashed a questioning look at her. “Long story, we’ll discuss later.”

“I think we should discuss it now Stef.”

“Not until we see what’s going on.” Stef smiled at her partner, all of them heading up the stairs to see Tayla outside Brandon's room, her face tomato red. Stef peaked into the room to see Callie and Brandon were asleep in their spots that they laid in last night. A pile of drool sat on Brandon’s keyboard making Tayla groan in disgust at the sight.

“Aren’t you going to do something about this?!” she cried, motioning to where they slept.

“I don’t think that’s any of your business Tayla. Why don’t you run to school,” Lena said quietly. Before Tayla could make a rebuttle, Brandon coughed, his body sitting up. He turned around, stretching his arms back to release the tension when he saw 4 pairs of eyes staring at him.

“This…isn’t what it looks like,” he quickly stuttered, standing up and holding his hands out as a plea. “We were just playing music and Callie fell asleep so I let her stay there while I practiced some more and I eventually fell asleep too. Nothing else happened, I swear,” he practically begged, glancing over at Callie whose body was still.

“Um, I think we need to talk about this Lena. Downstairs please.” They both quietly walked away from the room, Mariana following as Tayla stared at Callie, frozen.

“Leave and don't come back,” Brandon insisted to Tayla in a stern voice. She sighed, a defeated look on her face before following the rest of the family and leaving for school.

Brandon went downstairs to talk to his moms, both of them unsure about the situation. Callie had woken up to an empty room just upstairs, looking at the clock to realize she was 30 minutes late for school. She jumped out of bed, and rushed down the stairs to see Stef and Brandon sitting around the kitchen table. “Come sit,” Stef said nicely. Callie obeyed and sat as far from Brandon as she could.

                “What’s up?” she said cautiously.

“I saw Brandon and you asleep in his room this morning and I just wanted to-“

“I promise it wasn’t like that!” Callie jumped up immediately in fear, and started to back away frantically.

“Callie’s it’s fine!” Brandon called, but Callie ignored him, her breathing becoming uneven as she went into a panic attack.

                “Relax Callie!” Stef pleaded.

“No no NO! Please, don’t kick Jude out. Just kick me out okay. I’m sorry,” she mumbled, and began waving her arms frantically as she backed against a counter. Brandon stood and grabbed her arms gently, her body stiffening. “Stop!” she cried trying to get free, but he ignored her. Stef stood up next to Brandon and they both pulled her in for a tight hug. “I’m sorry,” she cried, tears staining Brandon’s shirt as Stef hugged the back of her body.

“It’s alright love, you’re not going anywhere,” Stef promised, looking into Brandon’s eyes sadly.

“It’s alright,” Brandon soothed, and Callie didn’t care that Stef was there and she was seeing her cling to Brandon’s chest like her life depended on it. She was so tired of being strong. “It’s okay to be vulnerable,” he whispered in her ear.

“Being vulnerable does not make you weak,” Stef added. Clinging tightly to Brandon’s shirt, Callie nodded and felt some relief and decided if she could, she’d never let go of him.
