Later at home, Stef and Lena had called Callie in to talk to them after dinner. She was terrified, and almost unable to eat. Brandon watched her struggle and put his hand on her thigh under the table, causing her to relax a little. Her thigh was her weakness, Brandon realized. Whenever he soothingly ran his hand over it, she would automatically relax, weakening under his touch. He liked the control and power that came with, but mostly for it being able to help Callie.
Brandon hadn’t known Callie was asked to talk to his moms. He was oblivious to that fact, and was confused as to why she was so tense at dinner.
Dinner ended shortly after, everyone filled up on chicken and veggies. Everyone helped clean up, and when the room was spotless they all migrated to their rooms, except Callie. Awkwardly, she sat cross legged on a stool beside the kitchen table.
“So,” Lena began, hesitantly glancing at Stef. “I got caught up on what happened and I just wanted to ask you if there was anything you know…” her voice trailed off.
“We wanted to know if you have a thing with Brandon,” Stef completed for Lena causing Callie to freeze at her abruptness, silence filling her brain as she searched for the right words.
“No, I just, I overheard him saying he didn’t want to play the piano and that’s something he shouldn’t give up so I went into his room and…” Callie’s voice choked.
“Thank you for doing that,” Stef replied, Lena flashing her a look.
“Okay, foster siblings aren’t allowed to get together,” Lena explained. “And I know that was a harmless accident last night, but I really don’t think you two should ya’know...”
“It’s not even like tha-“ Callie tried to say.
“I just don’t want things to end sourly. I honestly do not have a problem with it if it weren’t for the system and the fact that we all live in one house,” Stef said.
“But, it’s not like that…I don’t feel that way for him” She saw Brandon in the corner of her eyes, sadness plastered across his face causing her to pause and look down. “I understand what you’re saying, can I just please go to my room now?” she finally asked, sighing.
“Sure hun,” Lena said, noticing Callie’s guilty expression. “And we don’t think any less of you Callie. Neither of us are mad at you.” Lena gave her a one armed hug and sent her up the stairs. Brandon was in front of Callie as she walked up the stairs, his body so tense to the point where Callie could make out his muscles perfectly.
“Brandon,” she said softly, earning no answer back. She repeated herself in a louder voice, but still no answer. He paused when they finally reached the top of the stairs, each of them standing in front of their own doors. Callie eyed him as he turned around, his mouth opening to say something, but stopped. Instead he turned around, walked into his room, and slammed the door in Callie’s face.
She was surprisingly hurt by his actions, but she tried to keep her face emotionless as she entered her room. She saw Mariana sat on her bed, playing with her laptop. “What was that loud bang?” she asked looking up from the screen.
“I don’t know, maybe Brandon’s practicing on his keyboard again,” Callie whispered as she climbed into her bed. Mariana nodded and returned back to her laptop.
Callie decided to pull out her journal from under her mattress and began writing.
So I really hurt Brandon’s feelings. I didn’t mean to though. I cannot risk losing this place right now. I just can’t handle that, and Jude can’t either. I’m too frustrated to even write out my feelings. Things get more and more complicated. I really just want Jude and Brandon to be happy with any complications with me. And I miss Wyatt. I want to stop hurting now.
She slammed her journal shut and turned over to get some well deserved sleep.

Someone commented that I should just post without needing anything in return, and can I just say, it takes you about 5 minutes to read a chapter but hours for me to write it. I’m really not expecting much with comments. To comment or vote, it takes about 30 seconds, not even. I work so hard, please don’t take it for granted.
