Previously on Chapter 2:

“I’m Adam your chauffeur, I came to pick you up, and the suit is in the job description” Adam replied while leaning on the wall arms crossed.

“Those answer all your questions? Can we leave now?” he said rolling his eyes at me.

Whoa back the truck up, chauffeur? For me? Hold on a second is this guy giving me lip. I’m not into stereotypes or holding power over others but isn’t he supposed to be doing everything I say or at least being polite like calling me ma’am or some other weird title, like they do in all those movies.

“Why do I need a driver?”

“You’re father wants you to get there safely and comfortable” Adam replied.

A flashback of my mother’s killers struck me but I chased it away.

“Huh” I said as I grabbed my small suitcase and rolled it right past him heading to the front door, Neko following behind me.

I felt a hand wrap around mine “the suitcases…that’s in the job description too” he said as he took my bag from me and making his way to the door.

There’s something about this guy. Something I don’t like.

I stepped into the long, shiny, black limo and was extremely surprised. The interior of the vehicle was gold, even the fabric of the seat and the divider in the front separating ugly Adam and me. Like my new nickname for him, ugly Adam.

“Whoa” I breathed as I took it all in, “is that a mini-fridge?!”

“I don’t know I drive the car not lounge like a princess in the back”. I don’t know if that was meant to be offensive but I let it slide.

“Stupid rich people” Ugly Adam mumbled as if I wouldn’t hear.

“Um excuse me care to run that by me again?” I said my voice flat and my eyebrows rose. He shook his head “I didn’t say anything”. Does he think I’m stupid?

“I’m not rich my father is, seeing as I haven’t spoken to him since I was 5 it  don’t think I belong in the category ‘rich people’ I’ve live in a 2 bedroom apartment my entire life and we still could barely afford the cost of living. If my mom were still alive I wouldn’t be here” I stated with a glare and then turned my head to stare out the window.

“Sorry I- I didn’t know” he stammered. “Forgiven” but still didn’t turn my head his way. We drove in silence until I fell asleep.

I was shaken awake by Adam who looked tired himself. How long had we been driving?

“What time is it?” I asked groggily. “10:02” Ugly Adam recited.

I groaned as I lazily got out of the car. I went around to the trunk to get my bags but Adam beat me to it.

“Can at least roll my own bags?” I asked not liking this feeling of being so spoiled. Adam nodded and passed me my bags.

I rolled them to the front of the house. No I mean mansion, no actually a castle. I rung the doorbell and the door swung open and I was embraced in a bone crushing hug.

“Oh my god it’s you!” A young woman about 25 shrieked in my ear.

She released me and I took a deep breath. Who is this lady? She most have seen my confused expression because she began to introduce herself.

“My name is Sally McCarther, I’m your stepmom!” she yelled in excitement. I raised an eyebrow as I looked her over. Blonde hair, blue eyes, dressed in all pink. She looks like Barbie.

“Come come” she said grabbing my hand and dragging me into the castle.

My dad remarried?! I wasn’t even told! Who is this lady?! She dragged me by my arm up the spiraling stairs. She barged through a door and turned around to face me.

“This is your room! Its right across from mine, I can tell we’ll get along well! Right!” Sally exclaimed.

I’m surprised she didn’t start jumping up and down. I put my suitcase against the wall and looked at her before scoping out my room. The plain walls stared back at me and the four-poster bed in the middle of the room looked inviting.

“Let’s go!” she exclaimed, before I could even protest she was pulling again. I tried to move out of her grasp but for such a petite blond she had the strength of an ox. She barge through another door.

“This is the game room we have all the latest systems!” she squealed dragging out the word all.

An hour later we were finally done with the tour and at Sally’s pace I had seen the entire house, backyard, pool/ water park area, tennis courts, and personal 200 seater-movie theater. This place really was a castle.

“Now the theater is open to the public sometimes but most days it’s personally just for us so you can invite your friends!” she stated with a grin and hugged me again “I’m sooooo glad you’re here!”.

“Sally please do not crush my daughter” a deep amused voice said. Sally chuckled and released me.

“I would never honey!” she said running into the man’s arm.  I took some time to catch my breath and looked at him. My jaw dropped when I realized who it was.

“Hi Dad”
