Helen, Merlinda, and Raven sat in their respected places. They listened the the people on the podium, telling speeches about everything the class of 2018 accomplished throughout the four years at their school. Each girl rolled her eyes at the speeches.Raven let out a loud sigh that echoed through the ampatheater, everyone looked at her and the person giving the speech, Dawson, Helen's boyfriend, stopped mid-sentence. But he continued and ignored it, though he began to speed up a little.
Helen glared at Raven, who promptly glared back.
"I swear, one day those girls are going to get into it. Someone isn't going to come out alive." Merlinda said under her breath.
Dawson's speech had ended and he walked off the stage, going to his alphabetical ordered seat.
-
"Merlinda A." Their principal spoke, looking at a peice of paper he held in his hands. The dark haired girl entered the stage, walking carefully up the stairs, not wanting to fall in front of everyone. She succeded and took her diploma, shaking all of her teachers hands and exiting.
She was followed by the rest of the A's, finally it was time for the B's.
"Raven B." He said, the green haired girl walked onto the stage, quickly doing the same as Merlinda. The B's continued.
Then the C's
Then D's
Followed by the E's
Next were the F's
G's
H's
I's
J's
Finally, the K's.
"Helen K." He said, the blonde girl walked up to the stage. Her face was bright red, she walked quickly and stumbled a little, trying to get away from all the attention.
L's
M's
N's
O's
P's
Q's
R's
Then S'
T's
U's
Then, finally the V's. It felt like it'd been forever and the sun had begun to reach the tip of the ground in the distance. Why did they have so many people in the 2018 class?
"Dawson V." Came the loud voice, Dawson stood up and walked with a proud stride up to the stage. He took the rolled up paper into his hand and shook the teachers hands with a cheesy smile. Ugh, teachers pet.
He left the stage and went back to his seat, a proud smile on his face. Raven crossed her arms in annoyance, Merlinda sighed, how could Helen stand him? But unlike them, Helen was blushing, her face felt like it was on fire.
W's
X's
Y's
Then Z's
Finally after hours of siting that caused their butts to go numb, they flipped their tassels to the other side and traditionally threw their royal blue hats into the air in a flash of blue and white.
Like a stream of water everyone left the ampatheatre in a long line. After leaving through the gates everyone began to find their families, but before Raven could, she felt someone grab her shoulder and spin her around.
That's when she seen him, Austin on one knee and a sparkling diamond in a red velvet box.
"Raven... Will you do me the honor of marrying me?" He asked in a fancy voice, Raven laughed at his snappiness. But her face turned pale (or paler) when she processed the question.
"Wait... Your serious?" She asked hesitantly, he nodded without a word.
She felt tears prick the sides of her eyes, threatening to pour down her face.
"I-" She started but was interrupted by a loud AWWW that originated from Merlinda and Helen. She sent them a sharp glare from her eyes that shined with unshead tears. Helen immediately looked away but Merlinda glared back. The two looked away from each other at the same time.
"I will, Austin." She said, he stood up and hugged her, she hugged back.
"RELATIONSHIP GOALS!" Helen squealed excitedly.
Helen turned and found Dawson standing behind her.
She jumped on him and hugged him, he staggered back. "We're finally out of this hellhole!" She said with a smile after releasing him.
"#foreveralone." Merlinda mumbled under her breath.
That's when each girl dispersed and found their families, who congratulated them.
They each had their own way of celebrating that night, wether it was getting drunk off their asses ( Raven & Austin )
Or going on Craigslist to pick out an R.V for their previously planned exploration through the country ( Helen )
Or going out for Mexican food with their family ( Dawson )
Or eating chocolate and watching Netflix all alone and wishing she had someone to 'chill' with ( Merlinda )
But that was the last night they'd be home. Tomorrow they began their long trek across the USA, for Helen had found the R.V that they had needed. It was finally time. All their planning lead up to this moment.
The moment the world would change. For good.
Okay, maybe that's an exaduration. This is better;
The moment the world would change for the five, for about a year and a half.
