Emma's P.O.V:
Not even ten minutes into the class, I already get bored. Everything is too silent and the urge to turn around and say something stupid and incredibly sarcastic to Scott and Stiles is killing me. I guess we never shut up during summer and I haven't got over that just yet.
Giving up, because I don't even want to know about the assignment due to Friday, I drop the pencil and look around the classroom.
There're so many people I don't know, what an antisocial.
My thoughts take over me as I breath hard, rolling my eyes at the back of Ms Blake and mentally laughing when I remember Scott trying to talk to Allison. My eyes finally fall on Lydia. She looks even prettier than last year, which is a clear sign that she's quickly getting over Jackson. Maybe, one day, I'll tell her that he texted me before leaving.
Stiles taps my shoulder and I gasp as my body tenses in surprise. Ms Blake gives me a look that I return with a sarcastic smile before turning around to look at my boyfriend.
"What?" I mouth, motioning to Ms Blake with my head, who is most likely staring at us.
"Look," he whispers, looking over my shoulder and innocently smiling at our teacher.
"Hey, Lydia," Stiles whispers, "what happened to you? Is that from the accident?"
Lydia shots me a confused look. I motion at her ankle.
"Prada bit me," she says, looking at us for one second before focusing on her writing again.
"Your dog?" Stiles asks.
I give him a look. "No, her designer handbag!" I whisper sarcastically. "Of course it's her dog!"
"Has it ever bit you before?" Stiles asks Lydia again, ignoring my comment.
Lydia just shakes her head in denial. Another weird animal behaviour?
Two is a coincidence.
I sit up straight, facing the board. Luckily, Ms Blake already gave up on me.
I take the pen in my hand again, closing my eyes as I start to concentrate. I need to reach Stiles' mind. Even though since that night Gerard kidnapped us (yes, I still have nightmares about a crazy Argent cutting me in half) the bond I created to get to his mind being miles away from my tree is still here, it takes a lot effort to turn it on.
"Do you really think this could mean something?"
Before Stiles can even create a coherent thought, the sound of Ms Blake's high heels colliding against the floor make me open my eyes, closing the bridge to Stiles' mind.
She calls Scott, because apparently his mom wants him to leave school. I wonder if there's a problem with her.
I try to reach Stiles' mind again, but miserably fail when Ms Blake stops the class again to walk towards the window. I take a look to see birds flying towards our window. They are messily flying, not aligned, like they're supposed to.
One of them crashes against the window, blood splattering across the glass. Then, another and another, until one actually breaks the window.
They look like crows, and they're flying so fast it's undeniable that they're running from something, just like the deer that crashed Lydia's car.
"Stiles," I whisper, turning around to face him, "Stiles, get Lydia."
As if on cue, the crows get into the classroom, feathers flying everywhere, some of them attacking students, others falling down, hurt by the sharp glass.
"Allison, get down!"
Allison immediately gets down the table with me and Stiles grabs Lydia and tries to protect her as much as he can with his body.
And as they came, they're gone. Either flying out of the window or falling to the ground, dead, the crows are gone. Silence fills the room as everyone slowly stands up.
Allison offers me a hand and helps me stand up, already dialling her dad's number.
"You okay?" I ask her. She quickly nods, giving me her back to talk into the phone.
I walk towards Stiles and Lydia.
"Are you okay?" Stiles asks me, pulling me into a hug.
"Yes, are you, guys?" I separate from him just enough to look at Lydia.
"What the hell was that?" she says, staring at the window.
I look around and wonder the same thing.
"A pattern," I finally say. "Something's definitely coming."
"Yeah, we're figuring out what," Stiles says, taking my hand. "Lydia, go with Allison."
He drags me around the dirty classroom, near Ms Blake, who seems to be in enough shock to pay us attention.
"I'm calling Scott, you're calling my dad," he orders, taking his phone.
I sigh, turning my phone back on and dialling the Commissary's number.
"911, what's your emergency?" someone says, probably the girl in the front desk.
"Hey, it's Emma. Can you give me with the Sheriff?"
The girl on the other side of the phone redirects me with the Sheriff's phone.
"Emma, you know this line is for emergencies only," he sighs.
"I'm pretty sure a bunch of crows crashing through the classroom's windows qualifies as an emergency, dad."
"I'm on my way," he says, immediately hanging up.
I put my phone in my pocket and look at Stiles. "I had no luck with Scott."
"We just have to wait for your dad."
Stiles isn't looking at me anymore. Turning around to follow the direction of his eyes, I see Ms Blake looking even worse than five minutes ago.
"Ms Blake, are you okay?" Stiles trails off. He tries to get closer to her, but she just jerks away. Stiles carefully takes a feather out of her head before returning to his spot next to me.
"She'll be okay," I say. Stiles rolls his eyes, slightly smiling.
"I'm still thinking about you, you know," he says, passing an arm around my shoulders. "About you and your stupid best friend, who doesn't answer the phone."
"Let me try," I say, taking the phone from his hands. "But don't worry, we'll be alright."
