Emma's P.O.V:

It was no surprise that I got detention that day. Ever since the night Scott broke into the Bank and we ended up catching werewolves and discovering patterns, I have been terribly tired. Stiles and I have been doing research about the Celtic culture and the things I mentioned to him back in the hospital. My theory about human sacrifices could actually be true. However, we're not sure yet.

With three sleepless nights in a row, I perfectly understood why I fell asleep in the middle of Ms Blake class. However, she didn't.

"Uh, I have a job, you know," I comment. I am sitting right in front of her desk, getting as much homework done as possible. With everything that's going on, I don't want my grades in danger; not again.

I have already gone through Chemistry, Maths and I am halfway through English when I decide to break the silence.

"Yeah?" Ms Blake says, not even looking at me. "Where you work, Emma?"

"At the Animal Clinic," I say. "And my boss is really strict. He'll get really angry if I don't show up."

"I'm sure he'll understand," she says. She leaves her pencil over the table and stretches her hand. "You did something wrong; you have to pay for it."

I just fell asleep, dammit.

Before I could think about another excuse, my phone goes off. The phone is on the table and Ms Blake leans in to see who is calling. The ID says "Derek."

"Aren't you going to answer?" she asks with curiosity.

Harries would have never let me answer.

"Right now is not a great time, Derek," I say.

"Where are you?" he asks, ignoring my question.

"School; I got detention," I say, rolling my eyes at my teacher. She was carefully listening to every word.

"Do you know if Boyd is back in school?"

"Uh...yeah, I saw him at the cafeteria today. Why?"

I was terribly uncomfortable talking to Derek Hale in front of Ms Blake.

"Just keep an eye on him. He's not safe."

"Well, with all of our new friends around...none of us are," I say.

"Do what I'm telling you," he insists.

"I will," I sigh. "But I don't know how I could possibly help."

"Boyd and Isaac; I'm not losing anyone else."

"Wow," I sarcastically say. "For a moment I almost think you actually care about others."

I know this is all about being powerful. It always has been about power.

"Who was that?" Ms Blake asks me.

"Uh...Derek?" I say. How do I explain to her who Derek is?

Oh, that was my lovely friend Derek. He has big muscles and taught my best friend Scott how to be a werewolf. At first we thought he was a serial killer, but he's actually kinda nice; this one time we hung out a whole afternoon at the school's pools; he almost drowns, but he's okay now. By the way, the serial killer was his crazy uncle, not him. Derek slashed his uncle's throat, but then Lydia brought him back to life. Then he became an Alpha and gave the bite to Boyd, Isaac and Erica, but she's now dead...what was I talking about?

"Is he one of your classmates?" she insists. Why is she insisting?

"Oh, look at that; I've been here for an hour. Detention's over." I stand up, quickly gathering my stuff. A teacher being interested in my life is really awkward.
