The fire place softly crackled in the background as an old women sat in a chair reading a book entitled, "72 Uses for Snails". She had fluffy white ears accompanied by two short horns atop her head. She wore a indigo dress and she had lovely brown eyes. Across from her sat her daughter, she looked like her mother but had blue eyes rather then brown and a pink nose. She sat near the fireplace enjoying the warmth it provided.

"Heartfelt, my child, could you please get me my reading glasses from my room?" The older women asked, her name was Toriel.

"Ok, mum." Heartfelt said and she got up to fetch her mother's glasses.

She walked out of the sitting room and was about to go down the hallway to her mother's room when she felt an unusually cold wind coming from down stairs. She looked behind her shoulder, her mother didn't like it when she went down stairs. She walked down the creaky stairs and padded across the cold stone floor that covered the ground. As she went farther and farther down the hallway, she felt colder and colder. She got to the end of the hallway and saw that somehow the door made of purple rock had been opened.

"That's strange..." She thought and closed the door, blocking the cold air.

She turned around and started to walk down the hallway, she turned the corner and heard her mother's voice.

"Heartfelt? Where are you my child?" Her mother's voice echoed through the dimly lit hallway, "Oh, there you are, what are you doing down here?"

"Nothing," Heartfelt said, "Hey mom, what's it like outside the ruins? You know, past that door at the end of the hallway?"

Toriel sighed, "Perhaps you should go to bed, child."

Heartfelt walked up the stairs, she wondered what the rest if the underground was like, her mother seemed fine with spending her life in the ruins, but it was cramped here. The ruins were such a small place that by now Heartfelt had every path, every puzzle, every crack in the stone walls memorized. She wanted desperately for something new. She decided that tonight she would get it, even if it was for only an hour or two.
