Clarendon hastily made her way back to her house. Heartfelt sighed, she was tired but she was happy, she couldn't wait to see Clarendon again. She opened the door to the ruins and almost instantly she was knocked off her feet as an all too familiar monster ran into her. Heartfelt looked up and met the panicked gaze if her mother.
"My child! What on earth were you doing leaving without my permission? You had me so very worried, do not think you will not face punishment for this!" Toriel scolded.
"Punishment? Mom! Please, I was just-" Heartfelt tried to explain herself.
"Shh! I don't want to hear it, come with me." Toriel said turning her back to the younger boss monster.
"But-" Heartfelt tried to speak.
"Now, Heartfelt." Toriel said firmly.
Heartfelt wordlessly complied and stood up, she followed her mother through the door, back into the ruins. Heartfelt cried silent tears, she feared what her mother would do, she had not harbored any ill intent towards her mother, she never meant to worry her. Toriel quickly sent Heartfelt to bed and sat alone in her chair, hiding her face in her paws, she sighed.
"Was I being too harsh...?" She murmured to herself, "...no, she needs this discipline..."
Heartfelt lay on her bed sobbing uncontrollably, she felt absolutely terrible, she never meant to cause her mother to worry. She wondered if she would ever see Clarendon again, in the past few nights she had become so very close with her. The next morning Toriel told Heartfelt what her punishment would be.
"If you wish to leave the house you'll have to have me accompany you there." Toriel said.
"I'm not a little kid, mom, I'm one thousand years old." Heartfelt said.
"Well obviously I can't trust you!" Toriel said, she sighed and regained her composure, "I'm sorry Heartfelt, but that's how things will be for a few weeks at least."
"...Fine." Heartfelt sighed.
Over the next few days Heartfelt's desire to see Clarendon grew stronger and stronger. Absence makes the heart grow fonder after all. It was in this time that Heartfelt realized what her feelings really were concerning Clarendon. She made it up in her mind that she would approach her mother and ask if she could go to Snowdin.
