Riley had to stay in the hospital for about a week after just to make sure that she was okay. Only one day has passed since Maya got her stitches and was allowed to leave (the same day that they got there). She had to be on crutches for 2 weeks until she was completely healed.
The doctors were running tests on Riley when the doctor saw something strange in the x-ray. (A/N ~ This is the part where everything gets a little technical so you're just gonna have to pretend that all the facts are correct... Thanks)
Riley had a tumor in her lungs therefore causing the lung cancer, but the strange thing is that the tumor was getting larger.
The doctor called Riley's parents to talk to them about it and see what they wanted go do.

Hello, this is Dr. Fields from Johnson Hospital, the one that your daughter is admitted in.
Yes, okay. Is something wrong?
Well, you see, the tumor in Riley's lungs is getting larger and we were wondering if you would like to do one of the two choices. 1.) Just give her medication to try to stop the tumor from growing, which has only a 26% chance of working. Or 2.) We could do a surgical procedure to try and remove the tumor completely, which could have some major side affects.
Um, okay. What would the side affects be.
Well, should could have to always have to carry around a bag that is attached to tubes that go in her nostrills to help her breathe, or she could have to stay in the hospital where she would have to have the same type of machine hooked up to her so that she can breathe, and the worst possibility would be that she wouldn't wake up after the surgery at all.
So she could die??
Yes, that is a small possibility. But it is the best option if you want her cancer to go away.
Can I have time to discuss this with my husband.
You have until tomorrow to decide.
