Basically an essay for a contest that we had to write whether we were going to enter it or not. Oh and it's about optimism.

We all know that one person who is always grumpy and the other that's completely happy all of the time. The person that's always happy is being optimistic. Optimism is when you have a positive outlook on everything you do. We should all be optimistic, letting the light in and shunning the darkness.

Just one of the many people in history who were positive about the things they did was Helen Keller. When Helen was young she had an idea that her teacher thought was absurd and an unreachable goal, Helen spelled," Teacher, I want to talk like other people! Teach me to talk with my mouth!" After practicing over and over and over again she never gave up and one day she said five broken words, " I a-amm n-o-ootttttT d-d-duuummm-bB n-nooow." Somewhere between a whisper and a shout she did it! Helen Keller proved throughout her lifetime that being optimistic can help you prosper, even if your goal seems impossible.

Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly, didn't always have a lot of fame or money. When Amelia was a teenager her family had hardly any money. She had to make skirts out of curtains for her and her sister to wear in the spring. Later when she started her new school her English teacher couldn't control the class so Amelia ended up reading in the library during English. Underneath her picture in the yearbook, it read," The girl in brown who walks alone." The students had seen into the future because Amelia Earhart would eventually achieve fame all on her own.

Finally, one of the most optimistic people in the twenty-first century, at least on Ted Talks, is Peter Diamandis. He showed us that in all of the good things in the world we focus on the negative for our own survival. But he also said some statistics that are very positive about our future. Some are that the lifespan of an average human is double what it used to be and that ninety-nine percent of poverty in America has electricity and running water. He also talked about how technology is helping us every day from robotics and 3D printing to energy, water, communication, health, and education! More and more people are getting connected through technology and if the statistics are right then we might have a brighter future than we think and surely positive thinking will get us there even faster.

Letting go of all the dark things in life and letting the light in can change your whole future. Helen Keller made the impossible, possible, Amelia Earhart took matters into her own hands for her life to come, and Peter Diamandis wanted to show us that our future will be better than it seems. In conclusion, being optimistic, letting the light in, and shunning the darkness, can open new opportunities that you never thought were even possible.
